Retired. Retired...ooh id love to be retired.
I glance around in my stall and out the opening towards the retirement pasture.
"Congrats buddy your retired!!!"
My owner suddenly appears.
I whinny in joy.
Suddenly..he loads me in a trailer and we sooner than later arrive at a pasture land.
Here is my dream place!!!!!!!
He hands my leadrope to a man and he leads me out. I turn around...but as I do...my owner spins off and leaves me with a stranger.
The stranger appears with a grin on his face and he puts me in a small stall.
A stall that I cant even turn around in!!!
The next day...
A cattle truck comes...this means something is about to come.
I heard stories about horses getting killed, because they are useless and unwanted..but I never believed that it actually existed.
I lower my head in disgrace as the stranger takes my halter and hands it to the driver. I am whipped and forced to go in. My neck and head is lower as I can barely stand in the short ceilings.
Is this really my fate?
36 hours later.
The cattle truck screeches to a halt.
A nasty old looking pen appears before me. There is a shed beside it.. I am not sure what is going on nor why I am here..all I can say and think is oh no!
Before I knew it the doors fly open and I make an escape. I run out the door. But suddenly. A whip is laid across my withers.
I pin my ears in the direction and show my teeth. Another stranger looks at me...with an angered face.
I lash out. My teeth sink into his cold arm.
"Take him to the shed!!!!"
They yell. A worried look appears on my face..as I am pushed towards the shed.
My feet move but my mind stands still.
Is this really my fate.
Sirens.
Sirens.
My ears bleed from the loud sound.
"Stop Hands up!!" a police officer says. I perk my ears forward knowing that I now am safe.
Before I knew it the men are taken away and a trailer comes and rescues us all. 20 in total.
I am taken to a thoroughbred rescue center. And I am given my forever hone, 2 days after arriving.
5 years later
A young girl now owns me...she sure is kind. She gives me ear scratches daily...oooh they feel so good!!!!
I am now a grand prix jumper!! I even competed in the Olympics once and took bronze!!!
THE END. This story may have seemed sad. But to be honest..this is the truth. Too many retired racehorses get slaughter just because they are unwanted. Some get saved..those are the lucky ones..and some dont. This is why horse racing is cruel. Its not how they treat the horses...its how the retirement is. Some get to go and breed...but most once they stop producing go down this path as well.
Horses do not deserve this. So lets put a stop to it. And fight against it!!
I hope you enjoyed this truthful book. Have a ice day and please read my other stories.
