she approached him as he sat alone on the school's bright red bench, early in the morning.
"uh, excuse me?" she said quietly from nerves before smiling.
he turned and half smiled, not because of distaste, but because he greeted people with half smiles. "hey."
"um. i have something to tell you. haha this is awkward, i like you." she winced at herself.
he repressed a huge smile and instead traded it for a fake look of sadness. "oh... i have a girlfriend." he fauxly replied.
"oh. who? and i hope this won't make things awkward... more awkward than they already are for us." she told him, being good at bottling her feelings.
"yeah, of course not. and... it's... um, we're not really public yet, so..." he rushed, not wanting to put anyone on the spot.
"okay. well, bye i guess." she left with a frown etched on her usually beaming face, leaving her glasses foggy with tears.
