I walked into the great hall late for dinner because I had been talking to Hagrid, we interrupted Dumbledores speech and all heads swiveled towards me as the doors created open. "Ah, hello Miss Katherine. I do believe you need to be sorted?" Dumbledore asked. I cleared my throat nervously. "U-um, yes." I replied. Another teacher brought over the stool and hat and motioned for me to come. I walked uncomfortably to the sorting hat and the teacher with gray hair in a tight bun placed the hat on my head. "Ah... what do we have here? Loyalty, Hufflepuff trait. Intelligent, Ravenclaw quality. Bravery, though, bravery overrules them all. Oh, but again. You're Tom riddles daughter, aren't you. I'm sorry, dear but I have to put you in... SLYTHERIN!" My eyes widened as I stood up slowly, looking around in disbelief. "Sl-Slytherin?" I mumbled. I looked up to professor McGonagall pleadingly. "Please. I don't want to be in that house. I'll do anything!" I pleaded. McGonagall looked at me with sad eyes. "I'm sorry, dear, but the sorting hat is always right." My shoulders slumped as I made my way to the Slytherin table. I sat as close to the edge as I could and spoke to no one. As soon as Dumbledore dismissed us, I bolted out the door and decided to explore before going into the hellhole of my new life. I walked around the castle until about ten o'clock at night, and then I found the astronomy tower. I climbed up the steps slowly and looked out at the sky. There were so many stars. I sat for what must've been an hour and just looked at the stars. I was deep in a trace when out of nowhere a gruff voice said, "What are you doing up here after hours?" I turned to see none other than my worst nightmare, Draco Malfoy. I inhaled sharply, standing up and backing away. "Nothing." I replied hurriedly. "I-I'd best be getting to bed." I said, trying to push past him and go downstairs. Malfoy grabbed my shoulder. I instinctively flinched and he let go, looking at the floor and clearing his throat. "You don't know the way back." He said. I lifted my chin. "No, I don't." I replied softly. I swallowed, willing myself to let go of my dignity and pride. "Could you show me where it is?" I asked. He smirked. "Sure." I stepped aside, letting him lead the way down the steps back to the first floor. After a few minutes of awkward silence he asked, "So why were you up there anyway?" I cleared my throat. "Oh, um, I- I like watching the stars. They're the only things that are always there in the darkness. Before, I used to lay and watch them and-" I stopped, blushing. "Never mind. It's not important." I finished. Malfoy stopped and looked at me with hard gaze. "Yes it is." He replied. I shook my head. "No, it's not." I shot back forcefully. Malfoy looked at me. "Yes. It is." He said firmly. I glared at him. "No, it's not! Don't you see? Nothing I say is important. I'm not important!" I shouted at him. "I'll find my way to the common room by myself." I mumbled, pushing past him. "Other way." He called to me, a smirk twitching at his lips. I narrowed my eyes and huffed, but turned around and walked back to the common room seething.
