Chapter length is something I know a lot of people will get stuck on. You don't know if you should try to write a lot, or just a little. What I think, as I've mentioned before, is that you have a very detailed chapter, detailed paragraphs and descriptions about people and places — that shows how thought out and serious your writing is.

Your chapter should range from 1500 to 2500 words. It's alright to make them a little longer, but 6000 words per chapter is a little much (note: I have actually written a 7390 worded chapter in one of my books, and after that, the rest of my chapters were 3000 to 4000 words).

Readers like shorter chapter, and more frequently updates.

So, don't spend too much time worrying about having an essay of a chapter. If you write a little too much on one chapter, find a good place to split the chapter so you can form two chapters out of the one.
