(This chapter is edited).

Evelyn

I was binge watching Netflix when I heard my dad calling my name from downstairs, he's not always at home due to his work trips. He works as a manager in one of the biggest companies in out state, Although he tries to be the perfect dad when he's back home.

"Evelyn, Come here sweety"

"I'm coming"

I went to the living room downstairs to find a nervous dad waiting patiently for me

"what's up dad? Is everything okay?" I said feeling worried. I have never saw my father this nervous since the death of my mother 7 years ago. She died when I was 10 victim of a car accident when she was coming back from work. A truck driven by a drunk hit her car so hard that my mom died on the spot. I still to this day feel the ache in my heart whenever I remember her, she was the best mother one can ask for. Unfortunately good hearts don't last on this earth. I like to believe what my dad told me that day, he said that an angel took her soul to heaven because she had the kindest heart.

"Look, I'm going to tell you something very important but please hear me out"

I nodded for him to continue slightly worried of what i was going to hear.

"for the past month or so, I've been seeing someone." he dropped that bombshell and looked at me waiting for my reaction

My eyes went wide open once I heard what he said and i didn't know what to say next.

"what? Who?" I said looking at him with a million thoughts going inside my head.

"Her name is Charlotte, I met her at work."

"Are you like serious?" i asked

"We went on a date together and we've been talking, look nothing is official yet, i didn't want to make things official until i hear your opinion about this. Sweetheart, you and your brother are the most important thing in my life. If you don't feel comfortable with me moving on, then I will end things with her." he said taking my hand in his.

"Dad, I love you so much, and if you're happy then I'm happy. My mom is dead and you have the right to move on." I said with my eyes tearing up.

"Your mother is never dead to me, she is always living in my heart, i see her reflection everywhere i go. But i want to move on because i don't want to live on my own, one day you'll get married, and i would be left alone between these walls." he said his voice cracking at the end.

I moved next to him and i hugged him with tears rolling down my cheeks.

"I would never leave you behind dad. You've been the best dad i could ask for, i respect your decision on moving on, I would love to meet the women that took my dad's breath away." i said chuckling and wiping my tears with the back of my hand.

"I promise you will meet her soon, i'm sure you two will get along."

"Did you talk to Jason about this?" i asked. Jason is my older brother he is 22, college student at NYU.
He obviously lives in New York, but he is here for the holidays. Probably going back in a week.

"I will tell him tonight, he is not here right now." i nodded and got back to my room after i asked my dad a million questions about this Charlotte. She is a divorcee, with no kids. I was happy for my dad, he deserves to be happy, he's gone through alot, my mother's death wasn't easy for all of us, but it affected him more than us. He was hurting but trying to hide his pain for us, i was still a kid back then, he didn't want to show me or my brother that he was sad. He stayed strong for us. He is literally my hero and I would support him with all my heart.
