The Girl Within The Woods

Chapter Eight

Spirit had grown strong, the cold winter had come sooner than I had wanted.The snow had come and hit harder than I thought it could.Spirit kept me warm most nights,I hunted for animals skin a few weeks before winter had come. 

The Alpha still moved about the Forrest like the wild beast he truly was, his wolf searching for his mate. I could smell him from my bed most nights he was getting closer, if only he realised the tree that he had destroyed out of frustration was only 50 yards from my climbing tree and vine.

I had built a way for Spirit to get up without to much ease, I knew that would be a problem after some time, specially with the weight that Spirit had gained and would gain but he was making my upper body strength grow even more so. The leaves haven't fallen like most years, my mother once spoke how beautiful the trees and the ground looked once the leaves had fallen. 

I had taken to the forest floor,wearing a thick brown bear skin while wearing my normal clothes,which were short and revealing but I didn't feel the cold however my skin had grown lighter during the cold but still a light tanned colour my father natural skin colour staying on my flesh.

I had a spear in my right hand, I took each step with caution knowing the snow was leaving my trail. If anyone was looking for me they would surely find me. 

"Fawnnnnn" I heard a whispered in the wind.

I looked around that's when I looked around, I could hear paws hitting the ground however it wasn't the normal pace of the Alpha wolves, it was different they wasn't stronger than the local pack but faster and young. 

Foolish. A foolish wolf was a dead and dangerous one.

I put the bear skin hood up,showing the bear face while I pulled the closer to me and pulling the vine around my waist tighter,  from a distance I would just smell and look like a normal grizzy but I could feel the wolves coming closer.

 I walked away then closing the distance between me and the wild,my screach for food and some fire wood had come to an end but I heard the wolves stop and growling, I also stopped trying to  feel the vibrating within the ground, that's when I smelt the Alpha.

He was coming closer, I could feel his feet hitting the ground and his heart moving faster I could feel others with him I had realised I was infact to close.I looked at the trees around me looking at a high branch,I took the vine from around my waist and tied it around the bottom of the spear and lanced it as hard as I could. Once I heard the smash I knew I only had a few seconds before both packs knew they weren't alone. Once the spear broke through the tree with a thunder of a snap I took my bear skin off losing extra weight and climbed the vine like a quick monkey who knows the safety within the trees. I placed my body half behind the tree within the leaves and the wind blowing a different way my body still smelling like the bear who I left on the floor. As I thought both packs traveled to where the sound had troubled.

I noticed my Alpha first, his large tall beastly frame put every wolf to shame, he stood in front of the few wolves he had but when I looked the wolves over on his side they were dangerous, the one closest to the my alpha was grey and blue in colour, his eyes were yellow though while the one who stayed on the outside was brown very dirty looking his face was skinniest with blue eyes, he wasn't as built as the other but he looked clever like he was planning all the ways out and looking at the other wolves figuring out their moves. The last wolf was grey also but like dust the colour after a fire hits and you're left with a smoke cloud, I looked closer at the wolf then noticing the wolf was a female of a high rank she held her head up high her lip slightly lifted showing a part of her white fangs. She sat though, like she wasn't worried but her legs looked strong and full of muscle. She was a tracker, a temptress who would lead a rougue wolf to his death.

The others though, when you looked at the other pack of wolves they were all the same, all skinny and boney. They all looked like they would kill eachother for a piece of meat. Dirty damn dogs, there were more though at least double the amount of my Alpha pack not that they looked scared.

I heard a growl then but my Alpha didn't look bothered he watched the other wolves and growled back but that's when he realised the wolf on the outside of the other pack hadn't growled at him or his pack but the dark fur laying on the floor half buried in the snow but before I could even blink the wolf had thrown his boney body on to the fur ripping it apart and digging around the fur obviously thinking that it was a meat and now just a fur coat. My alpha eyed the coat I saw his eyes travel along the snow then noticing my footsteps but couldn't wonder where they had disappeared to.

One of the wolves stood forward then, he did have more meat on his bones but he wasn't muscle like the others.

He changed then, his skinny and small frame matching the wolf he once was, Braxton looked at him sharply then all the wolves staring at each other, you could hear the wind blowing I slowed my breathing down then fearing that If I breathed to hard they would notice specially Braxton.

I could see even though his eyes were fixed on the wolves in front of him, his ears moving and twitching around I could tell he was trying to listen out to me. Like a true mate he knew the sound of my heart beat like I knew his.

"Our Alpha wants this land, he wants to make a deal with you." the male spoke up looking into my alpha eyes, his legs were shaking though he had goosebumps? Goosebumps on a high temperature werewolf. All the wolves noticed it then and that's when I clocked on all the wolves had packs of fur missing and bits of their ears that hadn't completely transformed. They looked unwolf like.

Braxton members growled the one closest to him, gave a wolf like laugh though which was very scary sounding. The other wolves growled moving forward trying to form a line behind the skinny man, the only thing scary about the wolves was the desperation they were showing to look scary

"The Alpha king wishes you to leave this land in three days other wise we will come with more and we wont be talking" the boy said his ribs hanging out, it felt like the wind was trying to push him over and it looked like it was working the only thing keeping him up is the wolves behind him.

Braxton stood taller then if that was possible but he did, once he was stood and his face almost level to the boy Braxton growled showing at teeth. All wolves stood then teeth snarling at the ready, the males were standing very close to Braxton the female behind them. That's when Braxton did it, he sunk his teeth into the boys throat and shock him the empty forest echoing  the crack and the sounds of the other wolves attacking. 

The wolves attacked Braxton members then, they didn't win but I couldn't watch I hide my body completely behind the tree then.I could hear the crying of wolves and feel wolves running into the distance.I waited what seemed like hours, my heart beat racing and the feeling of vomit in my throat and anxiety in stomach.

"Come out my deer" I heard Braxton voice then, it echoing out into the trees while my heart beat started to slow I debated running but I wanted to see the damage of the attack, I needed to see what the forest had to bury, I moved closer around trying not to slip on the ice I breathed out then breathe coming out my mouth was white.

I slowly climbed down, my fingers gripping on the wood I looked for the vine then when I couldn't see it I looked down then, wondering how to land this jump.

"I'll catch you dear" I looked at Braxton then, his long hair behind his ears and in away from his face while he had grown out a beard and he was only wearing boxer shorts and a black material over his chest. I debated it to be that close to him would be like heaven.

I jumped then, closing my eyes and just letting go, he did though I landed right into his arms. He was warm it was like a warm coat around your body after laying in the snow, I looked at him closely then, his sharp jaw line was beautiful and his muscle were hard but he was sweating.

"Down" I said not knowing many words and not being able to speak in front of him anyway because he made me so hot and nervous however I was down my feet touching the soft snow sinking down into it a little. He was looking down at me then, his eyes on mine like I was prey but it felt like the murderous and monster moment didn't just happen. I looked around then, many dead from the looks of it only two wolves actually got away or chased,I knew Braxton would like his no to set in.

"War is coming" I said to him turning to look at him then, half my face was frozen to my face however he smirked at me then, his grin like smile which felt like trouble locked in, he took a few steps towards me then he look infront of me my face against his chest his thick strong fingers touching my face smoothly brushing my hair away.I closed my eyes then, breathing in his smell and his touch however it didn't last long because I knew I had my jobs to do, I turned away then but before I was even a step away I felt his hand on my upper arm holding me in place and I felt his chest vibrate.

"Let go wolf"I spat, not liking his hard and firm touch.

He let go after a few moments,I walked to the wolves who lay died the blood of the weak staining on the snow floor. I grabbed the first wolf leg and pulled him away from the blood stained snow and place him know more than 50 yards from where he died, I dropped to the floor and started to dig, my fingers pushing snow.

"what are you doing" I heard Braxton voice speak softly, he was still where I had left him

"The forest must lay everything to rest" I spoke, not stopping my fingers digging into the ground I signed when I finally hit the dirt of the forest floor

"There not from this forest there's no need to show respect deer" he spoke with a hint of anger, as if the ground would die if I buried them within it.

"Please"I spoke softly. This was my job the dead needed to be under the ground not on the surface rotting, it was to monstrous to watch and smell, my heart couldn't take the though of the wolfs being cold and unguarded.I heard a sign and a crack before I knew it I saw him standing infront of me in wolf form, his long black legs digging faster and stronger than  I could.Once the hole was deep I placed the wolf inside, his body was empty and light while I was grabbing another one Braxton went to dig another hole. 

That'd how it went for the next few hours together digging and burring bodies.

That's how it went until I heard his pack coming to look for him,I looked up and looked at him.

"Is there a war coming Alpha"I spoke quickly, my sees glued from him to the distance of the wolves coming behind him, I watched Braxton nodd then, I quickly nodded back and ran.

I ran from the Alpha, I ran from my alpha.

The wind pushing me forward. Till next time my mate.
