Somehow familiar

Something inside of me thought, she looked familiar but I'm sure I never met her before. Her hair, wet from the rain, was stuck on her rosy cheeks. White hair seemed pretty strange for a girl around her age of maybe 23. She stared at me with her electric blue eyes from about five meters distance, not saying a word. She looked kind of worried and took a step in my direction. I didn't back away. I just stood there, unable to move. „Can... Can I help you?", I whispered not knowing if she could her me over the rain hailing down on both of us. „You have no idea who I am, do you?", she exclaimed suddenly. I shook my head hesitantly. She exhaled powerless and took another few steps until she was standing right in front of me. „I am you."

The sounds around me faded: the rain drumming on the umbrella I was holding, cars passing by on the wet street beneath us, thunder crackling above our heads and her breathing in my ear. I finally got my voice back, asking now more confident „It's raining. Don't you want to come in?"

I pulled out my key and unlocked the door while she was holding the umbrella protectively over me. We entered the small apartment and I got her a towel. After a questioning look I added „For your hair". She took the towel and began rubbing her head.

„So what do you want from me", I asked after we took seats on my couch. „I guess you are from the future, aren't you?", I added. She nodded. „I don't want you to make the same mistakes as I did. I want you to live a happy life and I want you to be safe." I couldn't imagine me making such immense mistakes that I would have to go back in time to fix them. „What happened to you?", I claimed curiously. „Terrible things you don't want to know.", she simply replied. Her expression was blank, not telling me anything.
