"I can't believe we're not going" Raylyn groaned into my pillow. I rolled my eyes and but into my Snickers bar.
"Oh come on, there's new episodes of Arrow." I said while adjusting the screen on my laptop so it was facing the both of us.
I bailed on going to the party last minute, I will say that it was a bit selfish of me but it's for Raylyn's own good too. I didn't want her bumping and grinding against some guy and then get drunk and wake up the next morning like that chick from Knocked Up.
So once again we are in my room on a Friday night. But apart of me knew I wasn't just doing this for the new episodes that updated on Netflix, it was also because this is outlast year together. Raylyn will be going to college out of state and I will be...here.
What is she forgets about me?
What is she makes new friends?
What if she gets a new best friend?
"Hello" Raylyn sang as she waved her hand in front of my face trying to get my attention. I smacked her hand and chuckled.
"I was thinking"
Raylyn rolled her eyes, "You're a cunt you know that?"
"And why is that?" I asked
Raylyn got up from my bed and went on top of my dresser picking up last years yearbook and flipping through the pages, when she finally found the page she wanted she faced the book at me and I knew exactly what she was trying to show me.
"This was you last year, quiet, awkward, weird, still cute as a button" she reassured, I gave her a blank look trying to figure out the point in all of this.
Then she flipped through the pages some more and faced tho book at me once again. this time it was her yearbook picture which was just as tragic as mine. "And this was my yearbook picture, last year I was just a weird, just as awkward but not at all quiet and a bit more social." Basically she's better then me...
"Get to the point please Ray, I'm losing interest." I say while putting my heir up in a ponytail.
"My point is, we are seniors this year and we need to make this year memorable for us. I don't want to regret not doing all the things that I shouldn't be doing." The sad thing was she was right, we did need to make this year memorable. I was to comfortable with my boring life that I let these years just pass us by without doing something rebellious.
"So...are you with me?" She asks closing the book and holding it to her chest. She looked at me with puppy dog eyes, something she always did when she wanted something.
"Okay, fine." I sighed.
Ray threw the book and screeched like a kid, I got off my bed and pulled my hair into a pony tail then reached for my flats,"Whoa whoa, uh what are you doing?" Ray asked
Did she want to go or not because bitch I'm ready.
"I'm about to go to a party duh" I lost my balance a bit while trying to put my left flat on.
"You look like a single mom, a single mom who is now celibate" uh rude?
I was just wearing a knitted sweater and some scrub pants, it's fucking freezing in my house...the heater broke.
Ray started rummaging through my drawers throwing clothes everywhere some hitting me some not, some landing on my lamp, some knocking over my littlest pet shop collection.
Then she stood up with a deep red velvet material in her hands, she turned around and sure enough it was. It was the velvet dress my older sister gave to me last year.
"Here grandma, put this on." She threw the dress at me.
She went in her book bag and took out a black dress, "Bitch we are getting lit tonight!"
"Mhmm" we both jumped when we saw my mom at my door.
"I mean witch hazel is really good for your skin Winny." Ray looked at my mom with a wide grin.
"Imma tell your mom about that mouth out yours Ray," my mom scolded, Ray's smile dropped. "And where do you plan on getting 'lit'"
I walked over to my mom, "Mom we were just going to a small get together, nothing serious." I reassure.
My mom rolled her eyes, "Winona I don't like you going to friends houses without knowing their parents, the address, the kids name-"
"Parents name is Hudson and Amelia, address is 11 dime-hill lane, and the kids name Chandler." I say in a breath.
Ray raises her eyebrow, "you sure you weren't planning on going?" She muttered.
I look at her and twitch my left eye, she raises her hands in defense.
"Okay but you better call me when you get there and be back by 12." She said and poked my forehead before leaving my room.
"Bitch we getting lit!" Ray whispered loudly.
By the time we were done getting ready it was already 9, and the party started at 8. My anxiety started to kick in, I'm not cool, I don't got to parties. Even though I'm half black I inherited no rhythm whatsoever, and now I'm going to cause attention with this velvety, cute dress and then someone's going to ask me to dance-
"Let's go" Ray said grabbing her keys and heading out the door.
"Coming" I peeped. Ew what am I, a mouse?
When we got in the car Ray was talking about how excited she was but I was to distracted by how nervous I was, and I am pretty fucking nervous.
Okay breathe...I am a bad bitch.
No I am thee bad bitch .
I am the SUPREME bitch.
I am...shit what else is there?
Suddenly I jerked forward and almost hit my head on the dash board.
"We're here." Ray grinned.I could hear the music from the house and we were at least a good 4 houses down from the party, due to everyone in this town having a fucking car except me.
"Let's get wasted." I say with fake enthusiasm.
If only I knew that this party was the last time my life would be normal.
