I woke up the next morning with a pounding headache and an unwanted text from the devil, aka Kevin.

I groaned, what could he possibly want at six am?

'We need to talk.' it said.

Fuck!

I knew it needed to happen, but not yet.

'Why?' I replied quickly, before stumbling out of bed and heading to the kitchen to make myself a well-deserved coffee. It wasn't every day I made it out of bed.

Jasper sat at the dinner table once again, a coffee in hand and a laptop in front of him. This time he wore a white cotton pyjama shirt and a pair of blue boxer shorts.

"What do you even do on that laptop?" I yawned, grabbing a coffee mug from the cabinet.

"Check emails," He said his morning voice deep and husky.

"Oh, that sounds boring," I murmured, distractedly pouring the boiling water into a mug.

"It is."

"Where's mum?" I asked.

"Sleeping."

"Oh."

With my coffee in hand, I dragged my feet to the table, "Would you mind if I brought a kitten?"

"Yes."

My heart broke into two; I had been yearning for a little kitten to hold. Not to replace Harold, just to fill the cat sized hole in my heart that he left behind.

"I would really like one."

"That's nice."

"Yes, it is," I huffed, pouting like a child.

"Does mum have a job? Or does she just laze around here all day?" I quickly changed the subject to get my mind off cats.

He looked at me quizzically, one eyebrow raised.

"What?" I questioned, taking a sip of my coffee. Definitely not as good as the cappuccino I had yesterday, but it would have to do.

"Have you watched her pornos?"

"Not often," he grunted, "have you?"

I spluttered my coffee everywhere and had a three-minute choking fest.

"Fuck. No," I wheezed, my eyes watering, "why would you even ask that? Oh my god, I can't even."

He shut his laptop, "Please clean up the mess before you leave," He gestured to the coffee splattered all over his table.

I banged my head on the table and groaned what a great start to the morning.

---

My legs shook with each step I took. It was pathetic of me, but I agreed to meet up with Kevin. I still had things I wanted to say to him, like how much of a bastard he was.

But also other things, much more important things that I knew he deserved to know. I just wasn't ready yet, I could barely even think about the shit that happened these past few months without breaking down.

Barbados was a fancy restaurant located in the heart of the city, I couldn't help but wonder how Kevin conjured up the money to pay for a reservation, we ate two-minute noodles just about every second night when we lived together.

The prestige of the restaurant was ridiculous and it hit me in the face hard. I couldn't help but feel small in the old pair of jeans and simple black tee I was suiting. No wonder Jasper had looked at me funny when I told him I was going to Barbados for morning tea. The bloody bastard knew! He could have told me.
