Percy

And everyone lost their shit.

Literally, there was nothing to freak out about. Nobody was there yet, so I invited Nico to eat lunch with me because he's my boyfriend and, as a couple, we are entitled to eat together.

Now Grover and Thalia were already there. Annabeth wasn't, she's at home. But those two were there already, starting to eat when we both got out food and he sits down with us. Thalia faked a heart attack when she noticed Nico was here with us.

"Oh my gods, you're actually sitting here," Thalia remarked," you realize they're going to flip, right?"

"They're not even here," Nico remarked and suddenly you could Reyna.

"You fucking traitor!"

She was not the only one who called it out. Hazel called me a freak. Will called Clarisse a butch.

Not a bitch, a butch. Which is a camp term for lesbian.

Clarisse laughed at that. Why?

Because she has this called a boyfriend. His name is Chris. He used to sit with us and hang with us, but college happens. Clarisse is drafting for the military next year. Navy.

Everyone at the table here was really glad Nico sat there for lunch and talked to them because even when he used to be here he never said much and everyone kind of drifted from each other so on and so forth. It was really nice for him to be there. All we heard was bad talk about us and how we were like poisoning Nico or something and we just shook our heads.

Yeah, sure, it got me a little when they said stuff like that. But after hearing it so much for so long, it's a dull pain that kind of just numbs itself. It's just there, you just deal with it.

Were all like that with one thing or another. Something gets to all of us, but we manage to just kind of ignore it. That's what makes us friends. People call Clarisse name after name and she continues to ignore it, people freak out at Grover because he's half goat, Thalia because she chose to be a maiden, me just because of me. Were all the freaks of camp. The people that everyone pretends to like when secretly, they hate us.

I've played it everywhere I went. After my first summer, I thought maybe I had a chance here.

After word got around about Luke, though, that was it. They turned on me. I didn't have to come out as gay, as being a victim of abuse, as suicidal, none of that. They just turned on me because of my existence.

And that's what really fucking hurt. Even now it did. To my face they're so nice and so worshiping, then they walk away and I'll be damned to hear anything nice.

Sure, I've tried to kill myself.

But they'll never know that.

All of us here have gone through that. That loss of hope, the wanting to die. We'll never talk about it, but when you've been there, you can just kind of tell who else has, too.

We look out for each other because we don't desire to look out for ourselves.

There was a party tonight. Not like a dance or a ball. A party. Parties are the rare occasions alcohol is allowed at camp. I don't drink, but other people do here when it's around. Chiron and Mr. D leave for the night and let us have our fun. We haven't had a party ever since my first summer. It was going to be a lot of fun. Party like it's 2005.

We get there and it was hilarious to see like Nico, Hazel, Frank, Jason, and a few others show up like it's a ball.

"What kind of fucking party is this?" I heard Jason ask Leo.
