The bell rang for first time today. Levi followed the crowd of noisy teens down the corridor and into their classrooms. He wandered to the back of the class room taking a seat by the window. The same seat he has had for a few months now. Dumping his bag under the desk, he rested his head in his hands, mindlessly looking out the window.

Often his tutor teacher was late and it was no surprise today that he hadn't arrived yet. The teens around the room sat in their groups still chatting away as if they hadn't seen each other for ages. Giggles, laughter and some shouting was normal for this class. They we known for being quite rowdy in this class and others.

Suddenly the door opened, everybody quickly shifting themselves back into their proper seats. In walked Mr Smith, behind him a brunette boy. He was relatively tall, his hair was a messy mop and his eyes that looked like they were meant to shine like the ocean, were slightly dull.

"Okay, everybody. Sorry I'm late but today we have  new arrival. Do you want to introduce yourself." The new boy looked up at Mr Smith. There a almost pleading looking in his eyes, like he was asking if he could just sit down. But he sighed, looking back over the class. He stood still, with 25 pairs of eyes laid locked onto him.

"Em... Hi. I em eh Eren. Eren Jaeger. Um... hope we can get along." His voice shrank towards the end, as he did so. Mr smith smiled, pointing to an empty seat by Levi. The raven internally sighed. Ugh... Another brat.

Time passed, quickly becoming lunch. Levi lazily got up, heading out of the classroom. Other teens roamed the corridors, catching up with each other again. Some headed towards the hall other headed to the yard.

Without knowing Levi ended up in the yard. He saw his group of friends over by the corner of clustered trees. Petra bounced up to him, interlocking their arms.

"Levi," She said in a singsong way. "Guess what! The new boy, Eren, is here. Armin an Mikasa bought him here." Levi looked slightly down the the strawberry haired girl. They carried on walking. Eren's eyes met with Levi's before turning back to listen to Armin's and Marco's conversation. Mikasa  sat silently next to Eren too.

"Eren. Look, meet Levi. He might come off as a douche or whatever but he actually has a soft side." Levi hadn't noticed that Petra had let him go and was dragging the poor boy over.

"Um. Hi. I'm Eren, but you already know that 'cause I sit next to you and I'm in your class and-" Eren rambled on, stumbling over his words. Levi sighed, the boy cutting off his sentence. He just stared at Levi. Maybe with curiosity; maybe with embarrassment. Levi couldn't tell.

Jean lent over on Eren's shoulders, ending of the silence. "Yo, dude. Wanna hang out after school? Me, Marco, Sasha, Connie and the others are all going the skate park by the green. You comin'?"

"Eh. Oh. No sorry. I've got to go somewhere else after school." His face showed a pained expression which looked like he was desperately trying to hide. But Jean didn't seem to notice, now starting to pry.

"Aw, come on. Where could be so important that you can't hang out with us." The horse exaggerated his sadness, leaning further onto his shoulders. The boy looked really helpless, wanting to get away.

"I have somewhere to be." It was short and quiet. Again, Levi sighed.

"Horse face, leave him alone. He clearly doesn't want to go." The raven walked over to stand by Hanji who was talking to Gunther, Eld and Oluo.

Levi sat on his bed, scrolling thoughtlessly though Facebook. He was bored for the millionth time today. In the end, he decide to go for a walk. Even if was pointless.

Nothing had really caught Levi's interest and he was expecting anything to. Until he saw a familiar face further up across the road. The messy haired boy who had spoke to earlier today walked alone with a something in his hand.  It looked like a few flowers wrapped up, but Levi thought he could be wrong.

Wanting to catch up with Eren, he jogged towards him, hands in pockets. By the time he could reach him, Eren had turned the left through some gates. Levi noticed the gates led to a graveyard. His eyebrows furrowed realising the pained expression from earlier.

However there was something that Levi didn't understand. He didn't know why he felt sorry for the brunette.

Continuing to follow Eren, he saw the boy knelt in front of a grave stone, neatly placing - what Levi guess to be flowers - on the grave. Levi carried on, cautiously watching him.

"-It was fun. I met loads of people my age Mama. Just like you wanted. Ha. Mama I miss you. I wish you could come back. Or maybe, maybe i could come see you." Eren paused and so did Levi, his eyes widening.

"I'm sorry Mama. I shouldn't have said that. Mama, I met this person today. He's short, got black hair and has a really serious face. But he's actually really nice - and beautiful. He helped me and i'm thankful. Mama I wish you could of met him. Mama. Ich habe dich lieb*" Levi was surprised t the sudden change of language. He thought Eren didn't seem the type to know more than one language.

Eren looked up, the short teen catching his eye. He was surprised, shocked. How much had Levi heard? Did he hear what I said bout him?

Levi stood hands in pocket looking curiously at the kneeling boy. His face wasn't as stern as always.

"Eren. Is this why you couldn't go out with the others." Levi tried to sound nice as possible but he felt as it was a little to judgemental and forceful. Eren's head shit down, his messy mop hiding his eyes. He nodded.

Dieciding to kneel by the boy, he decided to question some more.

"i'm sorry. I didn't mean it to come out like that. You were talking to em," Levi looked at the name engraved on the stone. "Carla Jaeger. Who is she?"

"My Mama. She-" The grip of Eren's arms around his knee's tightened.

"I'm Sorry, Eren. I shouldn't have asked." There was this hard pang of guilt in Levi's chest.

"No, it's okay. She- She um- died when I was nine. Illness. We had just moved over from Germany, my home country. She old Father she wanted to go live somewhere with different scenery. My English wasn't good at the time so I was scared to make friends. After a year of being in England, she passed away. My dad soon developed a habit of not coming home for several months at a time, engrossing himself in his work. I haven't seen him for 4 months. I have no idea where he is or what he is doing. Uh- I'm sorry I don't know why I'm telling you this." Levi was unsure if Eren was crying or not.

"Eren... Hey." Moving his hand, Levi lifted the fringe away from the boys face. Eren's head shot up. Again he just stared. Levi's hand was still holding Eren's hair away from his eyes.

"Don't apologise, Eren. I'm sure you had this all bottled up. Can I ask you something?" Questioning him, Levi earned a nod. "Are you lonely?" Why did it feel to Eren that Levi had just his a soft spot in him? Without warning, Eren burst into tears.

"I sorry Mama. I'm so sorry Mama." For the second time Levi felt this wave of guilt hit him. Maybe he was just too direct.

"Eren, shh. It's okay." All Levi could think of doing to comfort Eren was to hug him. "I'm sure she is proud of you. She doesn't want you to apologise."

After all the emotions were let out, Levi led the way out, Eren in tow, their hand tightly grasped together. Heading somewhere undecided.

A/N

Hallo Dudies

Ich habe dich lieb* Meaning: I love you but to a family member not a lover or significant other. I searched it up, so i'm not quite sure. If i'm wrong tell me please.

This is slightly rushed, and i feel it's quite monotone so i'll not be surprised if you didn't like it.
