Chapter One: A very realistic middle finger.
Raven Lynch
Raven Lynch watched as the group of boys threw the basketball back and forth across the room. She knew once Mr. Teller came in they would get scolded - they always did - but she didn't care. Because every time they got caught it meant less time for Mr. Teller to notice that she's been reading the newest Sarah J. Maas book rather than the boring history assignment that he required them to read last night.
Who wants to read about George Washington when they could be reading about Feyre trying to figure out whether she wants to be a stupid housewife or a badass warrior?
"And then she lit his underwear on fire!"
Raven looks over at her best friend Paisley with confused eyes, "who lit whose underwear on fire?"
Paisley shakes her head at Raven with a roll of her eyes, "Rebekah lit James underwear on fire. Haven't you been listening to me?"
She looks back down at her book with a shrug, "no."
"Rude," Paisley chirps, "but anyways back to my story - that you so rudely ignored - Rebekah lit James underwear on fire because supposedly he cheated on her with Hayley Upton."
Raven checks the page she's on and closes her book - knowing her best friend won't give up on the gossip - she looks back at the boys throwing the basketball.
"Aren't Hayley and Rebekah friends?"
"Yes!" Paisley practically shouts - making several classmates glare over at her - she glares right back. "Yes," she repeats quieter, "that's exactly why it's so scandalous."
Raven nods absentmindedly, not to concerned about who cheated on who, someone is always cheating on someone at Lincoln High. The news isn't new to Raven. Exceptionally James Fredman, he will hook up with anything that slightly resembles a woman.
Except Raven, of course.
According to James Fredman, Raven is, "too much of a virgin."
How can someone be too much of a virgin? Aren't all virgins...virgins?
Not like Raven cares or anything. She wouldn't want to go near James Fredman with a ten foot poll. He licks his lips excessively and smells like he poured a bottle of cologne on himself. And not the good kind.
No Raven has her eyes set on another boy - one even more unattainable - Zander West.
His dirty blonde hair and dazzlingly green eyes intrigue her more than any cologne smelling-lip licker ever could. Plus when he smiles it could solve world hunger, it's so beautiful.
But realistically Raven knows that she couldn't ever get Zander West's attention. He's the captain on the basketball team, she's the captain of being so quiet people often forget she's there. She likes it that way, but it wouldn't hurt if Zander saw her and fell in love with her.
Wishful thinking, she excepts longingly to herself.
"Did you hear about Gar-"
"Miss James, am I interrupting something?" Mr. Teller interjects during Paisley's sentence.
She sighs and waves her hand in the air dismissively. "Of course not, Mr. Teller. Proceed with your lecture about The Reproductive System or something."
The class snickers as Paisley looks down at her history homework. Raven shakes her head, why Paisley likes pestering their history teacher, she will never know. But as long as it's entertaining she won't end it.
