Chapter One
Jessie's POV~
I happened to be holding a delicious and creamy caramel macchiato when I first ran into the gorgeous human being. For the first time in my life, I had experienced Starbucks. Just one of the things on my bucket list. My friends had told me about it for a lifetime, but I wasn't allowed out of my house often. Honestly, I didn't even like coffee, still don't, but I wanted to experience something new. Strangely, ever since I turned 16, my parents had been a little more reasonable with their restrictions. Just another amazing quirk of finally being viewed as something other than a child. The other quirk was getting a job. That was obviously my dream come true. Heck, at the rate things were going, I could even get a car. Ha.
Anyway, back to the mega embarrassing scene, I willingly accept it was all my fault. I was holding a steaming drink, running towards the bus, and talking on the phone at the same time. On top of that, it was pouring. Hard. My work shoes were soaking wet, and every step I took seemed heavier than the last one. I hadn't taken into account that I might miss the bus if I stopped by Starbucks. I was really out of it lately.
In my hurry, I accidentally bumped into someone. Well, slammed into someone. That's a more accurate way of putting it. My cup of coffee spilled on both of us, and I shivered from the sudden change in temperature. It was a cold day, and goose bumps broke out on my skin.
It appeared I was angrier than the stranger was, for the bus I was supposed to catch passed right by my eyes just a few feet further down the sidewalk. Too busy wrapped up in my own thoughts, I didn't hear him apologize. He didn't even have to. After all, I was the crazy madwoman running to catch a bus with a phone in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other. Oh, and let's not forget my workbag flopping annoyingly by my side.
Even though I knew it was my fault, I snapped. "You should watch where you're going you know. There are other people in this world besides you." Not daring to look him in the eye, I walked away.
My friend had pointed out the fact that I was extremely bitchy today. At the moment I didn't care; I didn't know the guy. The coffee had ruined my shirt, and now I'd have to purchase another one. That seemed like a good reason to hate him. He stood there for a moment before following me into Starbucks. I didn't bother running because I was already soaked, but I had to get away from the rain somehow.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to run into you love," he said, sounding apologetic. Oh my, a British accent, just my luck. I melt for guys with British accents. I stopped fumbling with my bag for a second, and quickly looked up.
"Thanks for your apology and all, but my bag is wet, everything inside it is wet, I'm wet, my hair's a mess, and now I have no way of getting home," I said, frustrated, proceeding my walk to the store. "Not that half of those things are even your fault. I wasn't looking where I was going in the first place."
Inside, I walked to the nearest table and sat, slumping my bag over the back of my chair. He sat opposite of me, and that's when I got a good look at him. He was definitely sweet perfection.
