Chapter Five
Jessie's POV~
Outside of the hotel, a limo was waiting for us. A limo? I thought. Isn't that a little too much? But I wasn't going to complain, I'd never been in a limousine.
The driver opened the door for us, and the boys went in, one by one. Now THAT was a little overboard, they could open the door themselves for God's sakes. But again, I wasn't going to say anything.
Inside, the boys were already fooling around. For some odd reason, Louis and Zayn were on the floor, entangled in a mess, while Niall was recording. Liam was sitting in the seat across from me and Harry, quietly laughing to himself.
"Your hair is just so fabulous!" Louis said in a dreamy voice. "I can't stop touching it!"
"Get the fuck off me Lou!" Zayn yelled, managing to get on top of Lou, pinning him to the ground.
"I must ask, what hair products do you use?" Lou asked innocently, his blue eyes almost bulging out of their sockets. He looked like a little child who couldn't stop admiring a toy in a store. I cracked up.
"Oh and this is Jessie guys, Harry's lucky lady!" Niall said in his usual happy-go-lucky voice, turning the camera so that I was completely visible. "Say hi!" he said, smiling. I quickly mumbled a hello, but turned when I heard Lou and Zayn yelling.
"But she's mine!" they both exclaimed, snapping their heads up simultaneously. I would've smiled at their dorkiness, but I was still mulling Niall's comment over. Harry's lucky lady? When was this established?!
I turned to look at Harry, and found him smirking. He was so full of himself. But I wasn't going to put him on a pedestal like every other girl.
"Harry's lucky lady?" I said, feigning surprise. "Why, you must be mistaken Niall, I belong to Liam." Why did I say Liam? That was random. But I didn't care, it worked. After glancing at Harry once again, I noticed he wasn't smirking. In fact, I'd pissed him off. Good.
"But that's not fair!" Lou said, pouting. "Liam has Danielle!"
"And you have Eleanor!" Liam retorted, causing Louis to blush.
"Right. Beautiful, sweet Eleanor. Hi sweetie!" Lou yelled at the camera, looking sheepish.
"Allright guys, I think it's up to Jessie to decide who she belongs to, don't you think?" Niall said, laughing.
"Yeah, that seems fair. Who do you choose Jessie?" Harry said cautiously, as if he was planning something. But I wasn't going to fall into his trap.
"I choose food." I said, flashing a smile, and that was all it took to send Niall spiraling out of control. The camera fell from his hands in his fit of laughter, and Louis picked it up.
"That's all for today folks!" he said goofily, and uploaded the video to Twitter. Great, that's exactly what I needed. Being attacked by a bunch of girls was everyone's dream. And I heard Directioners were the worst.
By the time Zayn and Lou sat back down, we'd arrived at McDonald's. Niall was obviously the first one out the door. The rest of us weren't quite in such a hurry.
Outside, three bodyguards were already standing next to the boys. Where the hell did they come from? I thought. They certainly didn't fit in our limo. My question was answered when I saw a Ford Focus parked next to the limo, and another bodyguard coming out of it. I guess it was the usual protocol, the boys needed to be protected from crazy fangirls too. And I wasn't wrong.
When we walked into McDonald's, the cashier immediately went crazy. She was a girl, and by the sound of it, a One Direction fan. She looked to be in her early twenties, with light hair, green eyes, and a nice smile. Harry would be all over her.
But to my surprise, he wasn't. In fact, she was all over him, yet he didn't pay attention. We all ordered our foods normally, if you call taking a picture with the cashier and signing your name one her arm normal. Except for me. I didn't do that, I wasn't famous.
As promised, Harry got me a burger and fries. But he ordered me a Happy Meal. I was starting to think he liked to make fun of me. But I didn't care, the toy was cute, and he was cute.
Woah, hold up. He's a pop star, you cannot afford to like him, I thought. You would be hated by many. And Harry would be hated by many, because he would be taken. That is, if he even liked you, my conscience added. Stupid conscience. An image flashed through my mind of Harry being beaten up by teenage girls, and I chuckled.
"What are you laughing about?" Lou said, curiosity clear in his voice. "Tell us!" he exclaimed, making his best puppy dog face. Louis really acted like a little kid sometimes. I liked that, everyone needed a little bit of that. But I just smiled and shrugged his question off.
When we were all done eating, it was back to the limo. But that was a little difficult considering the fact that more than 30 girls were gathered around the entrance to McDonald's. I guess the bodyguards were really necessary. Thankfully, we got back to the car safely, but not before the boys signed autographs and took pictures.
"I don't think I could ever do that," I said, once inside the limo.
"Do what?" Niall asked cheerfully.
"I could never go to a public place and have to deal with all of this." I said, pointing at the screaming girls as we were pulling out of the parking lot.
"Well, you get used to it." Harry said, smirking. Honestly, if he kept smirking it would be permanent, and all other facial expressions would cease to exist. I rolled my eyes.
"Where to miss?" asked the driver, startling me. Why would he be asking me where to go? But then I realized they were my ride home. Politely, I said the same thing I'd told Harry a few hours ago. "Lexington complex on Sixth Street, sir, near the mall."
It didn't take long to reach my apartment, and I wished that my time with the boys had been longer. Sure, I wasn't a big fan, but I was starting to warm up to them. Reluctantly, I said goodbye and thanked the driver.
"Ermm...I'll walk you to the door." Harry offered suddenly, and I just nodded. What did he want? I thought. But I couldn't come up with anything, and all that was left was to ask. Once we got to my door, Harry stopped.
"Thanks for the burger and fries," I said awkwardly. It was hard to hold his gaze, because I knew that once I did, those eyes would have my full attention.
"No problem!" he said quickly, looking down. "But uh, listen, I had a great time with you and the boys, and I'd like to see you again after this," he said, taking a curly lock out of his eyes.
"I would like that," I said, letting a small smile show through. But I wasn't going to act super excited, I had to keep calm. We exchanged phone numbers, and I heard the boys making cat calls in the car. Later, after they were gone, I wondered how they even knew what was happening, but then I remembered that my apartment was on the first floor, so they were looking at us the whole time. I was just completely oblivious to everything.
The amazingness of the situation didn't strike me until later either. Harry Styles had given me his phone number. And he wanted to see me again.
