Sophie was one of Queen Elise's maids when she participated in the Selection, so she was still at the palace on the Wedding Night. She hadn't gone to the ballroom, but instead had been on her way to bed, exhausted from preparing Elise for her wedding. As she had reached for the handle of the maids' quarters, she way thrown back by and invisible force, hitting her head so bad against the wall that it killed her almost instantly.
