I woke up in my room, shaking in fear. "What did you do to her," I said, almost afraid to ask. "You'll see, soon enough." I ran to go wash my face and clear my mind. I looked into the mirror to ser him, devilishly staring back. "Soon enough" he repeated, chilling me to the bone.
As the day went on, I saw my friend in the hall. I greeted her, and she walked over nervously. I asked her what he did, trying to lighten the mood, but she wouldn't talk. I didn't want to, but I used my power again. I just had to know what happened. "You terrified me yesterday. Now that you're making me come back, I know it's gonna be worse." Without enough information, I asked her to be exact. This, I regretted immediately.
"You showed me what you were. I tried to run, but you made me come back, and I nearly died when I did. You told me the same thing would happen today, worse off I tried to run again, and then you let me go." I couldn't believe my ears. he wasn't even trying to kill get this time, he was just torturing her. To make a point.
"I know you don't believe me," I tried to tell her, "but I need you to. What happened yesterday, everything you heard, it wasn't me. You weren't the only one being controlled. But I need your help." She continued cooperating. "I need you to come back again, and record what I say when he controls me. If things get really bad, I'll tell you to run. when I do, don't let anything stop you." She took a moment, but agreed. A wave of relief washed over me like no other. She believes me, she understands. I had only a moment to be joyous, though. She knew, but now he's aware. She's worse off then before now.
As I drove her this time, there was no conversation. We were both tense and worried about his next move. When we entered, she was visibly scared, but so was I. "So now what" she asked, lightning the mood. "Now, we wait. If you see me resisting, just write what I say."
"How will I know if your resisting, though?" I smiled.
"Oh, you'll know." Time went on, and we decided to make light of the situation. "So, what's this all about. If you're being controlled, who's controlling you?" I explained my struggle. "Well, I feel so much safer now," she joked, as I started to relax. She, however, still looked quite panicked. "Don't be nervous," I told her. "Stop reading my mind."
"I wasn't. You're shaking like a leaf." She looked away shyly. I rest my hand on her shoulder in a weak attempt to relax her.
"Don't worry, I'll do whatever I can to make sure you escape before-"
She gave me an empathetic hug. It was the kind of amazing comfort that makes you speak your mind. "The reason I told you to run was because I'm trying to protect you. My biggest fear is that something would happen to you, and I wouldn't be there to protect you from it. That's how much you mean to me." I saw get face get red and her eyes shine. This peace would soon end. A wave of pain like no other washed over me. I bit my tongue just to keep hey from realizing what was happening, but she looked back. She knew. It was time.
I went to the counter, just to keep my balance, and I could almost feel his presence. "Give in to the darkness." I gasped for breath, realizing that she hadn't left yet. "Go, now. Run." I tried to warn her. "But what about-"
"You're more important to me. I'll be fine, just go." She ran out, thankfully in time. "You're letting her escape," he said. "Trying to help her is useless. She'll get it worse off now. Say your lay words to her, because you'll never see her again." My head was hammering, and the pain was intense. He overpowered me, and I lost control.
I woke up to see her barely conscious. I wanted to rush up to help her, but I was still under his control. "I was hoping this would be easy," He said to both of us. "Eddie. Please-"
Eddie isn't with us, darling. You can address me as Edward." I was so engaged I wanted to kill myself, just to rid the world of him.
"As I was saying, you had to complicate things, making me carry you all the way here. It makes me wonder, you'd have to have a lot of energy to run that far, maybe you're friend had something to do with it. He must care about you alot then, because he never uses his powers that freely. You do know why he doesn't care about anyone much, right?" I held my breath.
"Because I destroy anything he cares too much about." She grew extremely pale, as I finally, for a brief moment, broke free. "It's not me," I told her. "Please believe me, it's not me." I felt the sharpest pain in my chest. "Troublesome rut" he spoke, as I blacked out.
