We rush to the school and get to the stage just in time. We go to the backstage of the auditorium and Mayor Mellow is standing there tapping his foot.
"Where were you? We've got a show to do!" he says.
"Long story. But we're ready for the show now!" Corey says.
"Great!" He walks out from behind the curtain and addresses the audience.
"Ladies and gentlemen, lets give a big hand to our performers, Grojband!"
We hear applause. The curtian lifts up to reveal us. Kon taps his drumsticks 4 times and Corey bursts into song.

I thought that this time
It would be perfect.

We play our last notes and wait. The crowd erupts into applause and we take a bow. We walk of stage and go outside. We all turn to Corey.
"Dude! You wrote that?" says Kon in shock.
<No I did but..>"Yes! I knew it! Trina's diary gives me inspiration!" says Corey excitingly.
"Well, well, well." says a snide voice behind us. We whip around and see 4 people.
"Who the cheese are you?" I snap.
"We are The Newmans. Sorry that we surprised you with our awesomeness," says the girl with the snide voice.
"Um, no. Who do you think you are?" hisses Corey.
"Well, I am Carrie Beff, this is Larry Nepp-" she points to a boy with the exact same colour hair as me "and those two are twins. Kim and Konnie Kagami." sge points to two girls, one has blonde hair and the other has black hair and glasses. "And sorry, but we are better than you. Seriously Riffin, your voice sounds like a cat choking up a hairball," finishes Carrie.
"How do you know me? I only just moved here?" demands Corey.
"Your sister is my sister's best friend. Duh," says Carrie.
"How can Mina be so nice and innocent while you are so cruel and heartless?" I shoot at her.
"Oooooo...." say Kin and Kon.
"Ok, you're going to pay for that, dude," growls Carrie.
"I'M NOT A DUDE!!" I shout.
"Riffin, I challenge Gross-band to a Battle of the Bands!" challenges Carrie.
"You're on!" says Corey.
"Right. Tomorrow, in the park." says Carrie as she saunters away with her band.
"CORE! We don't even have lyrics! We are so cheesecake!" I moan.
"We got lyrics from Trina once, we can do it again!" announces Corey. "We just need her to go to the park tomorrow. Aha!" Corey gets his phone out of his pocket and starts texting Trina.
Corey: trina me and grojband are having a battle of the bands against the newmans
Trina: and ur telling me this why?
Corey: well we're playing minas sisters band and i thought you might want to know who wins.
Trina: oh i get it! u want me to watch u totally fail! So yes!
Corey: ok..just come to the park tomorrow and then u can watch us.
Trina: yep ill be watching u fail!! Hahaha!!!!
Corey puts his phone back in his pocket and turns to us.
"Problem solved. All we have to do is win against The Newmans and Trina will lose it and we will have lyrics for our final song!" Corey says happily.
"But Core, what if we lose?" I say glumly. Corey puts his finger on my lips.
"Why so negative fella? Why don't you just keep a postive attitude?"
I inwardly squeal with joy as he touches me. Yep, this is a crush alright. I plaster a smile on my face.
"That's better!" Now, get ready for tomorrow! We've got a battle of the bands to win!"
Will Grojband win the Battle of the Bands? Will Laney get the guts to tell Corey that she likes him? Will I ever come up with better lyrics?? Unlikely.....

A/N: Hey bookworms!! I have some news. So, first of, I'm working on a new story right now and it will be published as soon as I have about two chapters ready. And I'm still working on the art. And in this chapter I really wanted to introduce the rivalry between Grojband and The Newmans. And also sorry that my song stinks. I'm better at writing music than I am at writing lyrics.
