It's been a long and tiring day at school today. Above all that, the school day didn't seem to drag like all other days did. Thankfully, the day actually flew by in an instant! At the same moment, having the school day pass quickly was rather unfortunate. You see, June 15th was our last day of school. The school would be closed for summer (thank goodness) and resume August 31st. It was a longer school year, meaning a shorter break. On one hand, I was happy to end school, but we all know part of us wants it to never end.
In the beginning of the day, we all lined up and walked down the hallway to go to our special that day--Art. Art is one of, if not my favorite specials. The art teacher let us "free-draw" that day. Art was fun, and it seemed to finish quickly.
After art, we had Math. Math was usually a boring subject for me, but it passed rather quickly as well. (No surprise there) All these equations and Algebra tired out my brain, and I was excited to have a mild break from them for a couple months. Papers were being tossed around, ripped up, and crumbled. The trashcan in our Math classroom filled up, barely leaving space for the teacher's homeroom students' trash. At last, the period came to an end, and all our Mathematics items were thrown away. My classmates all went in for a hug by our Math teacher, and we all rushed out, racing to our homerooms. All except myself. Jenna/Nicole and I used to walk out Math together, but today, Nicole waved goodbye, and Jenna disappeared into the crowd of Mathematics students. I took one last glance at the teacher and waved "Bye" with a smile, then left the classroom, essentially getting trampled by her reckless homeroom students.
The normal schedule continued to fly by me, and so did the year's worth of papers and files. Writing was the next subject on the schedule. The time was taken up by activities rather unusual, and unrelated to the subject. We were throwing out papers, and filling in end-of-the-year or summer fun activity sheets. Finally, recess rolled around the corner, and the grade rushed outside to enjoy their last time outside for recess. (for the school year) At least recess was relatively normal, passing us like it normally does.
At lunch, nothing phenomenal happened either. Just crappy school lunches being eaten by select students seated somewhere in the Dining Room/Cafeteria. Next came Reading. We didn't really do Reading, nor the next subject--Social Studies/Science. We were having a large end-of-the-year party, hosted by no other but our homeroom teacher.
The party was amazing. We each got our own little poem written by our teacher and our own bag of goodies including a balloon and a few other knick-knacks and trinkets. Unfortunately, the class' time at school was quickly ticking down. Balloons were thrown up into the air, songs were sung, hugs were given, and tears were fake-cried. (Seriously, we were all holding back "real" tears)
A small group of girls attempted to chant down the time of school left until dismissal started. Spoiler Alert: They failed. The words were forced out of the loudspeakers and into our ears. School has ended.
