Niall paces the streets of southern London, not even bothering to look at the faces of people passing by. He simply looks down at the ground; down at his feet. Niall wouldn't classify himself as someone who is depressed or someone who is desperate, just down and alone.

Tugging a little at his coat, looking for his key, the letter falls out. Niall picks it up shoving it back into his pocket. "No time for you right now." He sighs. Niall opens the door and walks into his flat. Removing his coat and throwing it onto the sofa walks into his kitchen and make himself a cup of tea.

There was always something about tea that Niall couldn't understand. It was something about the chemicals infused in it that would react within Niall sending him waves of relief. It was because of this that tea slowly turned into his favourite drink; after all, he would definitely be lying if he said he didn't need the relief right now.

Picking up some books and a piece of paper, Niall decides to do his homework. "Geometry." Niall thinks to himself. He wasn't bad at Geometry; in fact, he was good, acing it even. The boy hated it though, he hated how the universal language of numbers could be understood by everyone, looking at it was a different story. He absolutely adored how every equation made every-

Niall was brought out of his thoughts by a knock on the door.

"Open up, Irish." Niall gets up, unlocks the door and goes back finishing his homework.

"What do you want?" Niall sits back down and continues writing down his equations.

"Nothing, I just wanted to visit my best friend." Niall looks up at him.

"I'm serious Louis, what do you want?" Niall puts away his homework in his bag, throwing it into his room.

"They're looking for you." Louis clears his throat. "They told me that they miss you, that they want to see you." Louis looks at Niall who's almost staring at him wide-eyed.

"What did you tell them?" Niall runs his fingers through his hair.

"I told them I didn't know where you were, that I hadn't talked to you in months." Louis gives Niall a wary look.

The truth is Niall hadn't talked to his parents for a very long time. He'd quite estranged himself from them really. Obviously a lot of people were angered by this, because what kind of a child refuses to acknowledge the existence of his parents; but Niall had his reasons, the lad had every reason to do so.

"How long do you expect to keep this jig up?" Niall walks to the kitchen and fetches a cup of tea for Louis who's now sitting on the sofa. "I mean you can only live without them for so long." Louis takes a sip of his tea.

"I've been doing this for three years Lou." Niall sits next to Louis. "I can keep this up for as long as I need to." Niall shifts in his seat trying to find a much more comfortable spot. "I won't be seeing them for a long period of time." Niall sighs.

Niall, needless to say, isn't very happy with his parents; but he would be lying if he said he didn't wish that he could live a normal life with parents that actually care, but he knows more than to wish for so. He knows that it will never happen, just as some things are not meant to happen.

Louis' phone rings and judging from the look on his face, Niall knows Louis has to go.

"I really hope and pray that you're happy Ni." Niall's face shifts to an expression that's reminiscent of shock and pure sadness. "I just want you to feel complete; you've just been through too much." Louis pulls Niall into an embrace.

"Thanks Lou. I'll see you around." Louis turns around and walks out the door, sparing Niall one last wave before being on his way.

Niall sighs, picks up his coat and walks towards his room. Niall sees the letter fall out again. He decides to finally read it.
