Dying leaves tumbled across the cobblestone in front of a pair of teenagers. The two walked a path a little unknown to them, considering it was a rarity they went over to Ryan's place. It was no surprise someone as antisocial as him came from a house in the woods. The real question was how doing to walk constantly didn't give him the creeps.

Chris was watching the spaces between the trees in fear that some murderer jumping out with a chainsaw and slicing them to bits. There's no stories of people disappearing in these woods that they knew of, but it just had that "people have died here" vibe.

"Will you calm down?" Ricky said, "You're making me nervous."

"This place is just creepy." He murmured, wrapping his arms around himself.

The smaller scoffed, "Don't tell me the old wives tales about this place are getting to you."

He glanced over, concern on his face, "I... Didn't know there were any but I probably shouldn't ask."

"I'm going to tell you anyways."

He sighed, "Of course you are."

Ricky laughed, "It's stupid. There was this teenage couple, their names change depending on which version you're hearing, but the most popular version is Mike and Devin. They were going to run away together, and Mike told his girlfriend to meet him on Stony Cliff Road. She waited, and waited, and he never came. So, she jumped off the cliff and committed suicide. They say if you go to the cliff and say her name three times, she'll appear. If she drops a rose at your feet," He leaned in closer, wiggling his fingers mockingly, "You're doing to die the next day."

"Sounds like a discount Bloody Mary." He replied.

Chris was trying his best to reason with himself. He might look tough but ghost stories do tend to get to him. They could get to a lot of people if you heard them while walking through the creepy ass forest they supposedly occurred in.

"You're not scared, are you?" Ricky teased him.

"No... I'm not scared." He said, not even convincing himself of that one.

His friend stopped in his tracks, looking down the unpaved path beside them. They could continue on the road to Ryan's house, or they could take a little detour. He smirked, "Well, if you're not scared, let's go there." He pointed down the dirt pathway, "It's just down there."

Chris' face flushed, "But, we don't want to be late to Ryan's."

Ricky rolled his eyes, "He won't care. C'mon, you big baby."

He whined a little as the smaller grabbed his hand, pulling him down the path. The stone pathway was the only thing keeping him from going completely crazy. Now, that they were off in the dirt, his heart started to beat against his ribcage harder and harder. It felt like their surroundings got darker and darker as they went. The amount of trees or sunlight hadn't changed though. Maybe it was just their minds playing tricks on them.

Ricky finally let go of Chris' hand when they reached the cliff. It wasn't that big, but big enough that someone would die if they hit the rocks at the bottom. He peered over the edge, seeing the water splash up on the shoreline.

"Okay, we saw it, now let's go." Chris spoke quickly.

"Stop being such a wuss." He replied, eyes still stuck on the water below, "Man, I wonder how they got the body out of there. I don't think there's anyway down there. Maybe they never did, and her body just washed away with the currant."

"Ricky, stop." He said uncomfortably.

"What?" He turned back to face his friend, "I thought you didn't even think it was real?"

"Well, yeah, I don't think it is, but if it is it's not a good idea to be pissing off the ghost. If I were dead I wouldn't want someone talking about me like that."

He chuckled lightly, "Calm down. It's not real, okay? Just a stupid urban legend. I'll even prove it to you... Devin?"

"Ricky, don't-"

"Devin?" He smirked, pausing just to see the fear on Chris' face, "Devin? ...See, nothing. I told you."

A gust of cold wind rushed past them and Chris shivered, "Let's just go, okay?"

"Whatever." Ricky sighed.

He was a little disappointed at what a bad sport his friend was being. They were both into horror and bizarre, but Chris obviously had a weaker stomach for it than he thought. The taller took a finally look to the end of the cliff, then turned to follow his friend. Another cold breeze pressed over them. For some reason, it possessed him to look back for a second.

Chris' eyes enlarged ten times. If he wasn't shaking before, he was now. A woman was now floating over the tip of the cliff. Her flowing black dress was torn at the bottom. Blood covered a good half of her face, yet he could still see how beautiful she was. She slowly raised her finger to her lips to keep him from screaming.

Ricky turned around when he realized he didn't hear Chris behind him. "Are you com... ing..." His voice dropped as he set eyes on the specter.

"Why are you scared?" She whispered, "I thought I wasn't real."

"I-I'm sorry," Chris stammered, "He's an idiot."

Ricky narrowed his eyes at his best friend, "Don't throw me under the bus to a fricking ghost!"

She laughed and followed it with a "shhh". Devin had caught her attention. They couldn't stop looking at her, even though they wish they could. She raised her hand to her lips and blew them a seductive kiss. Then, she removed her other arm from behind her back. Two roses were intertwined between her fingers. She leaned over and gentle placed them on the ground in front of the teens.

They swallowed the lumps in their throat as they saw the signs of their end. Devin smirked and waved as she began to disappear. All that was left behind was the sound of the water crashing upon the rocks down below.
