The Enemy

Madison's POV:

I hadn't got into trouble for a few days, I was too busy thinking about Niall. Johnny hadn't spoke to me and avoided me. Ellie was ill for most the week. I was walking to my next lesson, my head hung low, arms clinging to the books that were pressed against my chest.

I walked into a hard surface, looking up I saw Kevin smirking down at me. Harry, Liam, Zayn and Louis were pinned up against the lockers. "Babe, why are you friends with these losers." he gestured to them. "They're not losers." I stated. "Oh I think you'll find they are." he chuckled in my ear.

Kevin's gang beat them up before my eyes. "Stop!" I shouted, lunging forward dropping my books but Kevin grabbed me. "Johnny! take this one outside." Kevin clicked his fingers and Johnny appeared. "No, Johnny." I sobbed. Johnny grabbed my arms and took me outside into the warm summer air. "Johnny." I clung on to his shirt as he tried to go back inside.

"Let go of me you bitch!" he shouted. my hands slid away, he never calls me a bitch. He walked back in without even a second glance. "Maddie?" a voice questioned. There was Ellie,looking pale. "Ellie! its Kevin he's beating up Liam and the others." I said in a flourish."then why are you outside?" Ellie picked me up. "Johnny, he dragged me out,he's with Kevin."

"Come on." she ran inside. When we reached them the gang had gone and all that was left was Liam, Zayn, Harry and Louis leaning against the lockers on the floor. Ellie rushed to Liam's side examining him. I stood biting my nails, tears still falling. I couldn't look at them, laying helplessly on the floor. I ran off along the corridor searching for Kevin. "Kevin! show your face you coward!" I shouted. There was deep chuckle from the end of the corridor. "I'm the coward?" he rested his back on the wall.

"Babe, don't bother sticking up for them nerds, just be with me." He walked toward me, hands in his pockets, squared jaw, lip ring,tattoos he was the kind of bad boy that I wanted but I don't want Kevin. "If I promise to be with you will you leave my friends alone?" I clenched my fists. "Anything for you babe but...you can't wear your glasses or hang round with them nerds." He grabbed my hand then with the other pulled my glasses off my face. "Fine." I sighed.

Kevin took me out of school,all his friends followed. "Cigarette?" he held out a pack of tabs. "eh,no." I waved them away had he shoved them back in his pocket. Surprisingly he didn't shove one in my mouth. Kevin held my hand, johnny standing by looking at his shoes. "Maddie!" I heard a voice that was far too familiar. There was Niall with all his books under one arm. "Oi! Get lost she's mine!" Kevin puffed and Niall slowly walked off, glancing back. The smell off smoke filled my lungs making me cough uncontrollably. "Quick get her a drink." Kevin snapped. I never knew Kevin could be so caring. "Here, Drink up." he gave me a bottle of water.

"would you like to come to mine after?" Kevin asked softly. "Er...Yeah." I lightly smiled and he smiled back, I had actually never seen him smile he always used to smirk. "Are you scared of me?" Kevin asked whilst kicking the ground. "Kinda." I answered. "Good, because when ever I go out with a girl she only dates me because I'm 'dangerous' and they are 'aroused' by it." I didn't know that Kevin felt this way about the way girls acted around him, I thought he liked the girls swooning over him.

"That's Why I always had an eye for you, you were different, afraid of me but the times you stood up for others confused me." He blew the smoke away from me. "I'm sorry for beating up your friends by the way." WOAH! DID HE JUST APOLOGISE TO ME? KEVIN McDOWALL APOLOGISED!? "Its alright, well its not alright but you know its okay..." I rambled on and Kevin just stared at me. " Sorry I'm a bit nervous." I rubbed my sweaty hands on my jeans. " no it's alright it's cute when you do that." I laughed at the fact he thought I was cute and accidentally snorted. My hands covered my mouth and Kevin began to laugh.

We sat in the kitchen. It was large and modern. "I didn't know you were so nice." I spoke whilst texting my mum saying I was at a friends. " it depends who I'm with." he mumbled. "I know you slept with Carmen by the way." I spoke softly. "Do you not like Carmen?" He asked and I replied with a shake off the head. "Why?"

"She bullied me and still does." I looked into his eyes he was giving me a sympathetic look. "Well I promise you now, she won't be bullying you anymore." he smiled sweetly. "My mum says I have to be back by 9." I looked back at my phone. "That's alright, game off football out back?" he asked. "Hell. yeah!" I smiled widely putting down my phone and running into the back garden.

As we kicked the ball back and forth we learned more about each other. "Main question is who do you support." I smirked. "Derby County." He stated proudly. "No way! I support them to!" I laughed. "Maddie!" Someone called, distracting me so I missed the ball and fell back onto the grass.

"Why are you with him?!" I couldn't see their face because 1) my hair was in my eyes and 2) I didn't have my glasses on. But I could tell who it was by their accent. "I'm just hanging out with a friend." I heaved myself up. "You can't be friends with the enemy!" he retorted.

"He's not the enemy." I charged toward Niall. Tackling him to the ground. "Yes he is!" Niall spat in my face. "No he's not." I hit Niall in the eye with my fist. I was so angry that I didn't want to look at him so I pulled myself off him and strut back to Kevin.

"You'll regret everything!" he shouted. "Don't ignore me!" He shouted again. "Go away Niall." I turned round shouting at him. Niall's face dropped and he scuttled away.

"Wasn't that a bit harsh?" Kevin asked, slightly backing away from me as if he was afraid of me. "Trust me, he deserved it." I rolled my selves up.

"That was quite violent." He laughed. "I can be really violent." I laughed with him, I was slightly confused why we were laughing about being violent but hey, whatever floats your boat.
