Chapter 5

Chapter 5:

Selena shifted as well, her clothes shredding and falling to the ground in tatters. She landed on four legs, preparing to launch and meet Finnian's attack head on, growling menacingly as she did.

She didn't quite make it though. Matt and Tyler stood in front of her, blocking both her and Finnian's path to one another. And to top it off, Kat sent a wave of pain through her skull, holding them both in place. Selena whimpered through a growl, her anger still burning in her belly even though she couldn't attack.

Finnian was deterred for a split second, but Kat didn't seem to be strong enough to contain the King of Werewolves by herself. He turned his attention to her and snarled in ferocity. Matt was also forced to shift, his protective mate instincts taking over as Finnian moved towards his mate. He jumped on Finnian's back, catching him in a surprise attack, or what he thought was a surprise attack. Finnian saw it coming.

Tyler shifted once he realized Kat's restraint wasn't strong enough for Finnian. He knew Matt wasn't strong enough to take him on his own. He moved away from his angry mate, giving her a look to stay put. He knew she would be fighting with anger now, looking to hurt him. Tyler and Matt just wanted to subdue him.

Selena, the ever stubborn one, didn't listen.

She launched herself over Tyler, right onto Finnian's back. Her wolf was in control and she was demanding blood.

She tore into the scruff of his neck, aiming for his jugular, but missing by inches. Finnian swiped his large paw at Matt, knocking him down as blood seeped from the four long claw marks on his shoulder. He bucked Selena off of him, throwing her at least ten feet.

He charged at her, ready to get revenge for the bite she got in. He reached her before Tyler could reach him and gave her a similar wound to her brother's. Blood pooled around her, dripping from her shoulder. She snarled and tried for his throat again.

He jumped at the same time she did. His strength far exceeded hers and he knocked her onto her back and jumped on top of her. Before he could slice through her throat with his razor sharp claws like he had intended, Tyler barreled into him, cracking a few of Finnian's ribs as he did.

He didn't even notice.

Tyler was the best bet of taking Finnian down, though that was unlikely as well. Matt and Selena were strong, but they were just regular Alpha blood. Since Tyler was of Royal Gamma blood, and now the Royal Beta, he was stronger than a normal Alpha. But he wasn't as strong as the King. What he lacked in strength, he made up for in his ability to think logically and strategically. Finnian was letting his anger rule his moments, making him a sloppy fighter.

Finnian exposed his sharp canines, showing that he intended to use them on Tyler. He leapt forward and swiped at Tyler's legs, trying to knock him off balance. Tyler saw it coming and dodged. He jumped behind Finnian and they both turned to face one another at the same time, circling each other as they did.

By that time, Matt had healed enough, with the help of his worried mate, and joined back in the fray. He stood next to Tyler, growling at Finnian.

Kat moved over to Selena, helping to heal her enough to rejoin as well.

Finnian moved toward Tyler still, seeing him as the biggest threat. Matt intervened, biting into the tendons of Finnian's hind leg. He turned his attention to Matt, leaving Tyler free to attack. Tyler jumped forward and bit the flesh above Finnian's shoulder blade. He didn't bite him hard, but enough to break through the thick skin. Blood filled both his and Matt's mouths.

Finnian still didn't seem to feel anything. He clawed Matt's underbelly, Matt just barely pulling back in time to avoid his guts spilling over the carpet. He then turned to Tyler and clawed his muzzle, drawing blood and almost taking out an eye.
