"Hurry mom I'm going to miss my flight at the rate your moving!" I yelled out the car window.
"One more picture, I promise ill get in after one more picture!" My mom was balling her little eyes out.
It's tough trying to go anywhere for more then three days, only because she acts like she will never see me again. Kind hearted people like my mother, kind of piss me off. But what can I say, I love her to death so I put up with it.
"Mom! Please come on! I could call Mark to...."
"NOO!!! Ok I am ready to go now" she hopped into the car.
Her tear stained pink sweater looked cute on her. I was always envied of my mother for her beauty and pose but never to the point that I would actually point it out to her. I fastened my seat belt and got out my map of Montana. I've only been there twice and that was when I was little. I heard there were tons of stuff to do there, but as I look at the map that is now laid out in front of me, it surely looks like a big ole pile of nothing.
Where are the movie theaters and arcades in the town? Now that I really look at it, where's the closest town to the reservation? I sighed and put my head back.
"Honey if you are second doubting this whole thing I can just turn around and..." My mom was still crying.
"No mom I was just looking at the closest towns to dad's house, and well looks like ill be walking for day just to see civilization"
My mom started to laugh as she looked at the map really quick.
"It's not funny mom I think my social calendar just went like 10 degrees south. How am I suppose to make new friends when all the people live on another continent?" I put the map into my purse and waited for an answer.
"Well dear make the best of what you got and hope for the best. If all fails you can surely come back home" her smile was big at the end.
I sighed one more time as I looked out my window. My cell phone started to ring but when I grabbed it to see who was calling, it stopped ringing. "hmm" I flipped open my phone and looked for a missed call but nothing registered..
"That's so strange" I closed the phone and put it in my lap.
"What's wrong Aiyana" Addison finally took her headphones off to talk to me.
"My phone was just ringing and nothing registered for a miss call, must not of been important"
"Oh" I heard Addison putting her headphones back on. Addison was quiet most of the time, but when she gets on her sugar highs it's like the world is going to end if she doesn't burn the energy off.
When we got into Minneapolis I started to get tired, but I wanted to stay awake knowing we were so close to the airport. The city looked beautiful at 10 in the morning. The sun emphasized the city with glimmering lights and amazing wildlife. May was the perfect time to walk the city to see the amazing architect in the old buildings around the city. It's the time of the year that me and Mark would adventure around the state.
Speaking of Mark, he texted me a message when we were pulling into the airport.
DON'T FORGET THAT I LOVE YOU AND THAT ILL SEE YOU IN ONE MONTH LOVE YOU AIYANA, ALWAYS HAVE.
All I could do was smile. How was I so blind before of how much he loved me, or how much I loved him. The love we share is unbelievable yet it was still like we were best friends with a few more perks. One of the security guards came over and asked my mother to move her car out of the city bus parking. The way my mother looked at him could kill a man. I had to laugh. Addison and I waited out front of the airport for our mother to come back from parking in the parking ramps.
"Mom is just a tad bit nervous huh?" Addison was looking into the airport.
"Yeah I don't know why either, not like it's my first time flying Christ" I set my bag down.
"It's ok though at least I have the house to myself for three whole months I'm so excited" Addison's face was lit up.
"Thanks sister love you too" I pushed her a little.
"Hey! I love you, just need a big break that's all" Addison wrapped her tiny little arms around me and gave me a huge hug.
"I love you too Addison, just keep an eye on the psycho ok" I started to laugh.
"Yeah I surely will" Our mother was running down the sidewalk waving her hands at us.
"Oh lord, now look at her" Addison released me and turned around.
Her eyes closed and Addison put her head down.
"That's YOUR mother Aiyana"
"Hey that's yours too" we both started to laugh as my mother stopped in front of us.
"Ok...lets...ok...inside...girls" my mom was out of breath trying to speak to us, it was sort of funny in a way.
I got my ticket and got my luggage into the check in spot. Security was a pain in my rear end as usual but it wasn't as bad as it usually was. The first thing we did was go to one of the coffee shops inside the terminal. A tradition that we did every time one of us flew somewhere.
"Flight 45 to Billings Montana is now boarding. Flight 45 to Billings Montana is now boarding. First class may start boarding now" the ladies voice sounded like she has been doing that all night long.
"Oh that's me mom" I jumped up and grabbed my carry on bag.
"Already? Oh geez. Here give me a hug. I love you so much Aiyana" She gave me a huge hug.
"I love you too mom, but I have to go" I tried to push her away but didn't budge at all.
We stood there hugging for a long time before the flight attendant announced the last call for my flight. I literally had to push my mom away to board the plane. I turned around before I entered the planes boarding hallway and waved good bye. The tears that were streaming down my mothers face made me cry. I turned around and walked down the hallway as fast as I could. I wanted to get to my seat before the tears really started to stream down.
I put my carry on inside the overhead compartment and buckled myself in. I texted Mark one last time before I turned my phone off. I LOVE YOU BABY, WE ARE TAKING OFF NOW. I WILL TEXT YOU WHEN WE LAND. LOVE YOU
And off went my phone. The lady next to me was already freaking out and the guy by the window was sleeping already. I sighed as I rested my head back.
A few minutes after we took off and were in the air I fell asleep. Thinking of Mark and my mother made the flight go smoothly.
