As I heard the growl I took the shotgun that I stole form the man. I held it in my hands, finger on trigger, eyes down the sight. The growling got closer and closer until the shadow revealed and Wolf and a Pup. The Wolf was standing strong in front of the pup. If I had to guess the age of the pup I would say two. They both had a Snow White fur and amazing light blue eyes. The wind blew in the cave causing the mothers fur to blow in the wind. It was Beautiful, just beautiful. The mother got dangerously close so I had to pull the trigger; I aimed at her face... I used six shells when I only should have used one. I was scared to use the gun. I've only used a gun once.... In call of duty... It had WAY more kick them I intended. I almost fell back on my 'bed'after I took care of the wolf, her pup cuddled up with her dead mother. The pup was sniffling. And trust me when I say: if animals could cry, I would be standing in a puddle of tears. The pup wasn't that small but he was weak, it looked like he couldn't live on his own. I ignored my thoughts and went back to sleep... I woke up; the pup was sleeping next to his dead mother. I felt sorry, the real winter was coming and he wouldn't survive, even if he was a snow wolf I still couldn't see him survive. I cooked the last two rabbits from the night before. I gave the one to the pup. I doubt he could hunt anyways. He guzzled the rabbit down in a swift second. I stared in awe; I didn't know a little pup could eat rabbit that fast! I then went hunting, I was planning on continuing my little adventure to Valdez tonight so I would have to get some rabbit ready in case I couldn't find any later.
This time I only got two rabbits, I changed my mind about leaving today. It would be better to leave tomorrow morning. If I did it would give me about eight hours to find somewhere to settle before twilight. I went back to the cave, the pup was still there, I tried to ignore him but it didn't happen. I cooked the rabbit for dinner. I had to find something besides rabbit! I'm sick and tired of rabbit! I've been eating it every day since I got lost in the forest! This time I only gave half of the rabbit to the pup. He didn't look that excited about it but he still munched on it. I laid down in 'bed' and the pup did the same about a foot away. When I woke up my heart almost skipped a beat... the pup was sleeping next to me! Not like one foot, but more like an inch!!! It startled me and the flinching I made woke him up. . I thought that it would be cool to give him a name, I thought for a while until I found the perfect name...LOUP!!! I thought it was a great name. Loup and I had some kind of... connection together. It was like peanut butter and jelly: We were made for each other! One could live, the other could too: but to find the perfect life, they would have to be together.
From the day I got here until now I still had the same fire going. It was hard to find dry twigs and branches but I managed. Today was the day I would leave to go find another place to stay. I grabbed my gear and held the map and compass in my hands. I was worried for one thing though... Loup... I didn't know if he would follow me like a dog or if he would ignore me like a cat... I started walking and Loup didn't follow me... went I got far enough a tear crawled down my cheek. Out of the blue I heard a sound:
"woof!!!"I turned around and yelled:
"Loup!"He was running through the four foot high snow. When he got to me he pounced, making me fall to the snow. He then started licking my neck. His tongue was wet but worm, soft yet squishy. He got up, I did too. We continued on, hoping to find another cave of something. Nothing showed up on the first three hours of searching. At the same time I wasn't planning on giving up either. We passed some abandoned mines but I wasn't planning on sleeping in one of those. Night time was falling on us; I could tell that Loup was tired. We then surprisingly came across an amazing find: a cabin. We walked inside and there was no one there. I decided to sleep there for the night. This morning during breakfast I cooked an extra rabbit for an emergency like this. We can't start a fire in a WOODEN cabin. That was something important with survival, you need to use logic. If you don't have logic then bad things can happen...
after we ate I went to bed, it was makeshift. It was brown and low, about one foot off the ground. I leapt in the bed, Loup did too soon after. The beds mattresses was made from fathers and leather. It was not comfortable at all, it was better than the cave though. Loup was snuggled up at the end of the bed with me. His tail was wagging back and forth before he finally fell sound asleep...
I woke up the next morning;
I was full of beans and jumped out of bed. Loup must have at a heart attack because of how suddenly active I got. He jumped out of bed too. Panting and wagging his tail in excitement I went outside, there was a small cave at the side of the mountain that was about fourteen yards away. I went in and started a fire, I couldn't start fire outside of the cave because of how much snow there was. It also would snow eventually; I wanted to keep my fire alive so it was a bad idea to do it away from the cave. I could tell that Loup was excided too; he was jumping around and rolling too. My goal for the day was to try to teach Loup how to hunt. I needed him too be able to get his own nourishment, the problem was that I don't know how to teach a hunting animal how to hunt! After a while of thinking Ifinally came up with an idea, I think the problem it just the he has never seen a live rabbit before. If I could trap a rabbit and show it to him, he might go bonkers and start to eat. I would also need to teach him how to retrieve food if I needed food and I couldn't get it, I could ask Loup to get it for me. He could kill the rabbit but keep him 'intact'. I went out for a while and found a few rabbits. I killed most of them but saved one for Loup I got back to the rickety cabin and Loup was sitting there, waiting for me to come back I took the rabbit out of my bag and showed him. He first tilted his head and then got up and started circling him. He started growling and finally bounced at him. I was laughing at Loup, he was playing with him! It was funny to watch, a wolf playing with a rabbit. The time finally came, the rabbit hit Loup and he got angry, Loup pounced at the rabbit with all his might. He teared the poor rabbits head off and started munching, while he was doing this he was also growling and huffing. The gore almost made me vomit but that was just Mother Nature teaching me a lessen about wolves and rabbits. I fell on the floor, I was in awe! I didn't know that my little Loup could do such a thing! But at the same time... that's life...Thanks a lot for reading up til now! it means a lot to know that you like it! im going to go write in safe, bye bye!!! :)
