Chapter 1|Crash|"Okay, look, all I'm saying John is we should do this more often. Ya know just go out to dinner and have more family time, we're all we got left. Don't you agree Bumble Bee?" Diana asked turning around to look at her daughter in the back seat. She smiled and nodded.
"Yeah, of course. Dad, you know how mom gets about this type of stuff. How come you never listen to her?" She asked as she sat up a bit, John smiled and let out a dry chuckle. He looked at her through the mirror. "Who's side are you on, Munchkin?" This caused her to laugh, her smile dropped and her eyes went wide.
"DAD LOOK OUT!"
There was a huge tree branch in the middle of the road, the car swerved to the right and flipped down the side of the grassy hill. Diana let out a frightened scream John hit his head on the steering wheel and he passed out.

Melinda tapped her finger's on her steering wheel to the beat of the song as she drove down the dark road, she suddenly came to a slow stop when she noticed the branch in the way of the road. She sighed tiredly and rolled her eyes and began to back up, she stopped abruptly when she heard faint yells of help. She parked her car, grabbed her phone and made her way outside with a curious look on her face. She followed the sounds until she saw the wreck, the car was upside down and a she could see the small body of a little girl. Melinda quickly called nine one one and ran towards the accident, she stopped in front of the girl and bent down beside her. "What happened? Where's my mom and dad?" Melinda gasped at the sudden appearance of the girl, Melinda began CPR on. She wasn't dead yet, Melinda could tell that much, the girl was still clearly attached to her body. "I need you to fight sweetie. Can you do that, can you fight for me?" Melinda asked, the girl looked at Melinda. "What's going on? Where are my parents?"
Melinda disregarded the questions and repeated herself, the little girl nodded hesitantly, her blonde curls bouncing as she did. "What about my parents? They were just with me? I was just talking to them, what happened?" Melinda didn't answer, she was too busy giving her CPR. She was relieved when her spirit vanished and her chest began to move up and down, and she heard the siren's. Once she knew she was okay she ran towards the car and looked inside, considering the door was gone, to find John laying there. She went to reach in but stopped when she saw his ghost, along with a women, he shook his head. "It's too late for us, make sure she gets a good home" They held each other's hands before walking into the light, Melinda sighed sadly.
Melinda snapped out of her daze when she saw the lights and the siren get louder. "Down here!" She shouted waving at the paramedics, her lips were graced with a sad smile when she recognized the two, one of them being her husband. "Melinda, you okay?" He asked hesitantly she nodded. "Yeah, yeah--- the girl......" She trailed off pointing to the blonde beauty behind her. The men ran to her, Jim flashed a light in her eyes. "Where are the other's?" Jim's partner asked Melinda, she looked to the car sadly. "In the car---- they didn't make it" she shook her head slightly.
Jim placed a neck brace around her neck and both the paramedics lifted her onto a yellow board and placed her into the ambulance as Jim put an oxygen mask on her face. "Hey, I'll meet you at the hospital" Melinda informed him as she quickly got into her car, the girl's parent's would be bagged and taken to the morgue soon to get an autopsy.

One day later
"She suffered a few minor injuries, along with internal bleeding, which we stopped--- but she's slipped into a coma when she hit her head. She must have went through the windshield" the doctor explained to Melinda and Jim. Melinda looked like she wanted to cry, Jim held a sad expression as well but he needed to be strong for Melinda. "What about her family? Where are they?" She asked lowly, trying to avoid the ghosts around her; the doctor sighed. "She's last of her family, she'll have to go to a foster home when she wakes up. Poor child." He shook his head in shame as he looked at her through the window, blocking both Melinda and Jim's view. "Can we visit her?" Jim spoke up for the first time, the doctor gave them a sad smile. "Sure, take all the time you need" he then disappeared down the hall.
The couple looked at each other and sighed before entering the small room, Melinda could have broke down at the site. The girl had wires hooked up every where, she had a tube down her throat, she had a cast around her left arm, and she had cuts all over her arm's, leg's, and face. Melinda held her hand against her mouth and Jim sighed sadly, wiping a lone tear before Melinda could see. Melinda sniffled and they both took a step forward, "I can't believe she doesn't have any other family," Melinda sighed and shook her head at Jim's word's. "How's that even possible? There has to be someone" he huffed, Melinda's head perked up when she heard a light laugh.
"If only that were true" Melinda saw the same curly haired blonde crossing her arms over her hospital gown and shaking her head, she had a frown gracing her cut up face. Melinda looked shocked, Jim looked confused. "Mel, what is it? Is it a ghost?" He whispered the last part, "Not exactly," Melinda was just as confused, the blonde continued to shake her head when she decided to look up. Melinda and the girl made eye contact, the blonde furrowed her brows and huffed. "Wait, you can see me?" Melinda nodded. "How's that possible?" She asked confused. "I have a gift, I can see and speak to the dead" she replied, the blonde let her arm's fall. "But I'm not dead. At least I don't think so...." She trailed off getting closer to her limp body. "You must be having an out of body experience. Sweetie, do you know where you are? Do you know what's going on?" Melinda asked, not sure if she knew what she meant. The blonde sighed sadly letting a few tears fall down her cheeks, she nodded. "I heard some of the nurse's talking. They said my parents are dead" she sobbed and her voice cracked. "They said I might not wake up, and I don't think I want to. They said I have to fight, but I'm not going to." This broke Melinda's heart, Jim rubbed her back.
"Mel, what's going on?" He asked concerned, she looked at him and tears slid down her cheeks. "It's her, she's have an out of body experience and she knows about her parents. She says she doesn't want to wake up, she wants to go into the light," she turned to the blonde, "Honey, why won't you fight?"
"There are so many ghosts here. They don't know there dead. It's sad really" she ignored her question. "They said I'm on the verge of dying...." Melinda furrowed her brows, the blonde looked up at her. "Bet they didn't tell you that, did they?" It was more of a statement, rather then a question. Just like that she disappeared, "Wait---" Melinda sighed, as she stared at the sleeping blonde.
