Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have.
-Eckhart Tolle
I sit up fast. Fast from the nightmares that were once there, when I lay. I am in a bright room. A room with computers and technology I have never seen before. To the floor, my eyes look. The tiles a light blue and other tiles yellow and grey. I am sitting on a bed, a smaller bed than mine at home. It is high above the tiles. Tan railings near my arms and a pillow behind me, filled with lumps and knots.
"You okay?" I hear a voice, a woman's voice.
"Where are you?" I ask. Searching the room anxiously.
"Speakers," she tells me.
"Oh. Can you see me as well?" I presume she has, since she asked if I was okay in the first place.
"Yes. You seemed confused."
"Where am I?"
"The young adult's hospital," she tells me.
"Which is where?"
"It's the building near the place you'll be staying for a while."
"What building?"
"Alright, I will call your advisor. We will get you situated so you aren't as confused," she promises.
"Thank you."
A fair skinned woman walks in with a handsome man.
"I was the one who talked to you over speakers," the woman said. There is nothing to say, so I just nod. "This is your advisor," the woman gestures to the man.
"Okay," I say.
The woman comes to my side and takes all the tubes and other things that were on me. She grabs my right hand and helps me to my feet.
"Easy now. You did pass out, so take it easy" the woman tells me. I nod.
"Everett," she points to the man.
"Right, come with me." I was wearing a Hospital dress. It was a baggy dress with big purple sloppy circles. The woman came running in with slippers and a jacket. I didn't even get time to realize she had left in the first place.
The man and I begin to walk down the hospital hall. We walk for a long time making turns the whole way.
"So where are we going?" I ask.
"We are going to the Marriage Occupation Facility."
"What are they going to do there?"
"Get your life started. We'll tell you. Don't worry," he suggests.
"Alright then." We have finally gotten outside. I look around. I have never been outside when it is so dark. It is cold, wind gently kissing my cheeks.
"So, where's this facility?" I ask.
"There." He points to an enormous building to my left. Very close it is, to us.
"That's where you'll be for a while."
"I'm kind of nervous about that," I say as he laughs.
We walk in the facility. There are no people to be seen. The wide halls are empty and suspiciously silent. We pause for a second and then keep walking. I don't know where this "advisor" is taking me.
