It was currently 8:30 p.m. and Gwen and I were seated on my bedroom floor, papers scattered all around us, and the book I purchased sitting in the middle of all the mess. The cover screaming "Just pick an idea already!". We had been tossing around ideas since mid-afternoon after we had gotten back from the book store, but nothing had stuck.
"So this is what I'm getting from all of this," Gwen looked up from the current list in front of her "all you want to do this summer is to watch Criminal minds, get ice cream, and walk around town?" I nodded, "Andrea, that is the most boring thing I have ever read, worse than any book we had to read for AP English Literature."
"Well what do you suggest then?" I asked, "And for the last time, no fake ID's."
"What about going to lake Ferguson in the middle of the night... and going swimming!" Gwen's hands shot up in the air. "C'mon Andrea it'll be fun! Please!" She begged, her hands on my shoulders.
"I guess it could be fun..." I said sheepishly, "But I won't go after 2 am okay!"
"Yes! Yes! Yes!"Gwen began skipping all over my room whooping and high-fiving herself every 5 seconds.
About a half-hour later Gwen's phone buzzed.
"Ugh, my mom wants me home soon." I looked at the clock, seeing that it was almost 10 I ushered Gwen out of my house not wanting to upset her mother.
"Text me if you come up with anything else" Gwen shouted as she hopped onto her bike and began riding off.
"Will do!" I responded, and with that I closed the door.

I headed back upstairs deciding to clean up the mess of paper and markers which was my room.It was a fairly simple task, just crumpling up and throwing away sheets of paper and putting away the markers in their specified bin. After about 15 minutes I was done and decided to pick up the book one last time. As I was flipping through the pages something caught my eye. On one of the last pages in swirly pastel pink writing it said 'Consult Others: if you can't come up with your own bucket list, ask a friend and see what they would have in mind!'"Shitty advice" I mumbled. With Gwen being the only person I hang out with, I couldn't actually seek anyone's "advice" if you even want to call it that.
The frustration was slowly killing me and I couldn't take it. Walking down the stairs I grabbed my phone, and earbuds off the kitchen table, and a towel out of the hall closet, and headed out into my backyard.
Stargazing had always been one of my favorite things to do in the summer. Seeing all of the stars form into any shape they choose really was one of the most relaxing things I have ever done. Lying down the towel on a patch of grass I slipped in my earbuds and let the soothing melodies and soft beats take me.

I was snapped back into reality by the snapping of beaches from the forest backing my house and the string of curse words following each crack. Panicking, I shot up, turned on my flashlight and dialed Gwen's number. My thumb looming over the call button. Inching forward I remembered every Criminal Minds episode that I had ever watched. Thinking about every self-defense move that I had ever seen, recalling every weapon and how it was disarmed in the drama. I was feeling confident until I saw who it was stumbling out of the woods and over the fence. It was Parker, Will, and Elliot.
"Will, are you sure this is your house?" I could hear Elliot ask"For the last god damn time Elliot, this is my house!" Will retorted.
"You sure bro, because I don't remember you ever having a sister." Parker shined his flashlight on me.
"Shit." Will breathed "The cops are gonna find us now."
Cops? What did they do?
"Hold up," Elliot stepped towards me " isn't that the chick we ran into this afternoon?"
"Yeah." Will squinted at me "She was talking about some kind of bucket list crap. Andrea right?" I nodded "You know Parker she could help us." Will tapped his friend's upper arm.
"Help you with what?" I said
Parker stepped forward "Well Peterson, it seems like you're not the only one in this town wanting to make a change this summer." He spat. "We also have a bucket list as you like to call it, and I think you'd be the perfect person to help us complete it."
