Rory was running late so she knew Mitchum would already be there. She walked in and told the hostess her name.
"Right this way." Rory followed her into a private room. To her surprise it was empty. "Take a seat Ms. Gilmore. Mr. Huntzberger will be here shortly." The hostess quickly exited the room. Rory took a seat and sipped on the ice water on the table. She had just tongued a piece of ice into her mouth when Mitchum entered.
"Rory!" He said gesturing for a hug. Confused Rory stood up. He awkwardly hugged her.
"Mitchum" she said as she sat down and took another sip of water.
"Rory. My son has ended his engagement. I have a suspicion it had something to do with you." He took a cigar out of his pocket.
"Can you not?" Rory asked gesturing toward the cigar.
He ignored her and started to light it. "Please Mitchum, can you not?"
"Why?" He asked.
She didn't answer.
He just shrugged and set it down.
"I was wondering when he was going to end it with Odette as soon as I seen you two." He continued as a waiter came in the room. He set a menu in front of Rory and left.
Rory opened her menu and kept listening.
"Logan is at a critical point in his life, and his career. We don't need anything complicating that."
"I understand." Rory replied, and looked him in the eyes, "I don't plan to complicate anything."
"Good." He continued "Shira is not going to like this."
The rest of lunch was surprisingly pleasant.
As Rory was on her way back to Stars Hallow her phone buzzed.
"Hey stranger."
"Ace." The sound of his voice made Rory smile.
Rory found herself looking in the mirror. She was topless in only a nude bra. She was touching her stomach imagining what it was going to look like when she started showing. There was a light knock at the door.
"Ace?" Logans voice was quiet as he opened the door a crack "You've been in here awhile. You coming back to bed anytime soon?"
"I'll be right there." She slipped Logan's tee shirt back on and headed back to the bed in the hotel room. Logan was laying on his side, shirtless.
"Got something on your mind,, Ace?" He asked her.
Rory laid her head on his chest, and traced her finger over his torso and up his chest.
"Can we just stay like this."
Logan kissed her hair, "Wouldn't that be something."
She knew she needed to tell him soon, but was waiting for the right moment. She took a deep breathe and looked up to find Logan had fallen asleep. She soon followed.
The next morning Rory woke up to Logan tipping room service for breakfast. He smiled at her.
Now was as good a time as any.
"Logan?" Rory said scooting up to sit in the bed.
"Rory?"
"I have something serious I need to talk to you about." She got up and grabbed her purse and sat back down. She was searching in her bag when Logan sat down beside her. He lifted her chin up, moved her hair out of her face and kissed her.
"What is it Ace?" He asked his face just inches from hers. She took the plastic baggy from her purse and handed it to Logan. He looked down at the test smiling but as soon as he seen what it was the smile vanished from his face. He got up and took a few steps away from the bed.
"Is this the reason you wanted to get back together?" He asked, holding up the test.
"Not entirely." She seen the hurt in his face as she answered him honestly. He ran his free hand through his blonde hair, and sat down in the recliner. "Logan.."
He interrupted her. "Rory, I need some time to process this." He got up, got dressed in his gym clothes and left the room without another word.
Rory was still sitting on the bed, not sure what to think of the whole situation.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The elevator opened on the bottom floor and Logan sighed, he pressed the button for his floor. When he got back to the room Rory wasn't on the bed anymore. The bathroom door was cracked and the bath water was running. He peeked in the bathroom. Rory was standing in the mirror, naked, touching her stomach again. She closed her eyes. Logan took the opportunity to come in. Rory turned to look at him, it was the first time he had noticed she was crying.
"Rory, I'm so sorry." He said to her as he wiped the tears from her face. She didn't say anything back, just moved away from him and got in the whirlpool tub. She gestured him to follow, so he undressed and got in with her. He traced her fingers with his.
"How far along are you?" He asked.
"7, maybe 8 weeks."
"So it was the night."
"Yes." she replied without letting him finish. He kissed the back of her head.
