he realized that when she said:
she couldn't do it
and he couldn't either
so they both fell back
together
and it made him realize that
a stranger isn't always a stranger
and a road
isn't always a road
and a place isn't always
just a place
and a home
wasn't always home
so when he turned to leave her
she turned around, too
and neither one of them
looked back
because they couldn't afford to
so they both
kept going
straight
down the road
from which they came
because in that moment together,
while they stood up on that bridge
they realized that they were bigger
than anything life threw at them
