I wake up to the sound of silence. Blissful silence.
I look over to check my phone and saw texts from Nash.
Nash😜: Hey you here?
Nash😜: Hello?
Nash😜: I'm ordering without you.
That was sent 30 minutes ago.
I spring out of bed and throw on whatever is on my floor. I FaceTime Nash hoping he's still at the cafe.
He answers looking annoyed and behind him looks like tables from the cafe.
I sigh relieved.
"Where have you been? You didn't ditch me for Cameron's ski trip, did you?"
"No, I didn't even know he was going on one." I looked down, hurt. He always told me what he was doing. Even if we weren't on the best terms, like right now.
I notice the bandages on Nash's nose.
"How was the surgery?" I ask remembering he told me about this last week.
"It was good. Now, can you come to the cafe? This old lady is staring me down and thinks I'm just talking to my phone screen. I don't think she knows about FaceTime."
I laugh and exit my apartment building jogging to the cafe.
It only took me a minute to get there and scare the heck out of Nash almost making him fall.
"Jesus, how do you always seem to scare me?" He asks and I laugh.
I hug him saying,"Thanks for meeting me, I know you're only here for a short time."
He pull back and smile.
"I had to see my best friend." My smile brightens.
"So, Cameron was acting weird last night. He said something about how he should be apologizing. What do you think that means?"
I say casually as Nash's eyes widen."What? What do you know?" I question Nash.
"Uh...nothing." Nash stutters.
"Look, I know about the bet." I say and he relaxes.
"You aren't mad at Cameron?" He looks at me intrigued.
"I was a bit ticked off about it, but it was only a kiss." I told Nash about the details of that night and how Cam told me about the bet.
Changing the subject, Nash says, "Remember when you had the hots for Justin Bieber?"
I laugh remembering it all too well.
"Like when I was in first grade. But now I kinda drifted away from him." I say.
Nash laughs saying, "Ok, I just remember you said you'd, 'give up the last piece of chocolate cake for him' or 'not use your phone for week' if you got a chance to meet him."
"Nash, it's Justin Bieber we're talking about here. He's more important than chocolate cake."
I laugh and Nash joins me. The I stand up and state, "I'm hungry. I'm going to get coffee, want anything?" I offer because knowing Nash, he'll want something.
"I'd go with the caramel iced coffee. It's to die for! And those mini brownies." Nash suggests running his stomach.
"Oh? So you know this place? Better than the person who lives around the corner from it?" I say to him and he laughs.
