One morning in the late summer season, Dana the pink Lucario woke up to see the beautiful sunrise. Summer had gone by fast and before she knew it, it was two days until school started up again. Dana would be in the eighth grade, and everyone knew her as the smart, kind girl that she still was, even with her new form. Dana already knew this, and she was still getting used to being a Lucario as she was transformed not even a month ago. After breakfast that morning, Dana went back to her room and talked with her significant other, her blue Lucario.
“What am I going to do? School starts in two days and I’m not even sure how I’m going to get through this big change without you,” Dana looked up at Lucario, her eyes drowning in worry.
Lucario smiled at his girlfriend, “What do you mean without me? I’m going to school with you too.”
Dana’s eyes shined, “You are? I thought Pokemon don’t go to school…?”
“I’ve been reading over your shoulder since you were in fifth grade, Dana, you think I know what I’m doing?” Lucario smirked.
Dana giggled, “It makes me feel better that you’re going to be there with me the day I go back.”
“Dana, let’s go! We have to get to the school supply store before they’re all gone!” Dana’s mother called from below. Oddly enough, school shopping was Dana’s favorite thing to do at the end of summer.
“Are you coming too?” Dana asked Lucario, flashing him a pleading look.
“I would never miss it, Dana. Besides, I have to get supplies for myself too,” Lucario put his arm around Dana and walked down the stairs to the car.
Dana’s mother, brother, herself and Lucario all got in the vehicle and stopped in a parking space to go to the office supply shop that was just down the road, “Well here we are!” Dana’s mother announced. Everyone exited the car and walked toward the mid-sized store. Inside, the store was bustling with people with their Pokemon going this way and that, throwing supplies into their carts and going to the checkout line.
Dana and her family (+Lucario) joined in this routine. All four bought three sets of all the same things; one for Dana’s brother, one for Dana, and one for Lucario. They loaded the car with notebooks, pens, pencils, binders and other supplies for the upcoming school year. By the time they all got home, it was already five in the afternoon. It had been a long time since seeing familiar ground.
Dana and Connor helped set the table, while Lucario watched the news with Dana’s father. After dinner, Dana carried her school supplies to her room, as did Lucario. They dropped the bags with a big thud.
Dana collapsed on the bed, “I’m so tired, those bags were heavy,” Dana said rubbing her eyes.
“You’ll get stronger in time, darling. Now why don’t you sleep, love,” Lucario suggested.
“You don’t have to tell me twice,” Dana pulled the covers over her and turned off the light. Lucario joined her, cuddling with her. Dana closed her eyes happily.
