Beating the odds
Chapter one (jacks is ten, Collin is eight, Anna is six and J.J. Is three)
They were still waiting. The doctor had left the room twenty minuets ago with the tests to review them. Kate laid in the hospital bed with her son, his sleeping soundly for once. She played with his hair while Rick calmly stood next to her and rubbed her shoulder. "Kate, whatever those results are, we will get through this." He whispered sitting in a chair. He was giddy and nervous. To calm himself he watched the rise and fall of Jack's chest and Kate who was humming a soft toon that kept him asleep. Jack was defiantly a mommas boy, but also had a hold around his father. Ricks mind started to wonder to their three kids at home who were currently with Jim. He missed them horribly and being hours away in Boston didn't help, but they needed the best people to figure out what was wrong with his son. Rick thought back to the moment of Jacks 10th birthday party. They were having a good time until jack started walking wobbly and he felt sick. He collapsed and Rick caught him and tried to wake him, but he wouldn't budge. "Mr. Castle?" Rick was pulled from his thoughts and he looked yo at Dr. Schwartz. Kate's head sampled up too, the humming stopped. She gently got out of the bed careful not to wake Jack and stood next to Rick arm around his waist seeking comfort. Ricks arm slung over her shoulder, holding her to him. "We ran the tests we took and reviewed the car-scan we took of jack and we have came to a conclusion of what is wrong." He paused and took the tests out if the file and handed them to Kate who held the papers in front so her and Rick could see, "your son, he had a brain tumor on his cerebellum and on his brain stem. It's stage four brain cancer."(yes this chapter is short, but they will get longer.)
