SEPH

Hayden left my apartment with a to-go mug in hand, chamomile-scented steam rising from the tiny slit in the lid. I cast him a smile as he stepped out onto my steps, and he smiled back, brushing back his dark hair with one hand.

"I'd love to see those vintage items sometime, though, Hayden," I said reassuringly, my hand resting lightly on the front door. It was beginning to get cold out, a light breeze drifting in through the opening, raising goose bumps on my forearms. I tugged the sleeves of my pale yellow polo down over my shoulders,

"Another time, yeah?" Hayden asked, leaning into the doorframe. His eyes glittered in the dim light, his black jacket slipping a little from his shoulder. One strand of hair fell across his eye, and he brushed it back quickly. I watched as a light from a passing car swept across his cheekbones with a low red glow.

"Yeah," I replied, grinning widely. "You ever give me vintage, I'm in."

"Sounds good," Hayden said. I began to close the door, but Hayden stayed rooted in place. I glanced up at him and almost broke out into a sweat because of the level of intensity with which he had begun to stare at me.

"What?" I asked, feeling heat flooding my face. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Hayden said without breaking his eye contact.

"What are you looking at?" I laughed, reaching a hand up to touch my face. I patted around my cheeks. "So serious," I pouted, making sure there was no food stuck around my mouth.

"Sorry," Hayden said, cracking a smile suddenly and looking away. "I'll catch you later, yeah?"

"Yeah," I said, nodding. "Goodnight, Hayden."

"Night, Seph."
