A few years had passed since you started serving as Weiss's bodyguard. The two of you had no problem getting along, she never treated you badly and always interrupted someone before they could either. You became close friends as you started to cheer her on whenever she sang or played the piano for her dad's friends. Seeing her do so well always made you happy and she loved having you as her fan. She would always invite you into her practices other than have you wait outside for her and would get upset with you if you ever so much as looked like you were going to say no. though you would tease her so she would puff out her cheeks and look cute for you.
After you were taken in as her protector, Weiss's father repaired your weapons so that you could use them properly and gave you a uniform to wear at all times. Your uniform wasn't anything special, a long sleeved blue shirt, silver dress pants and a high collared silver jacket that you kept closed so it covered your face. This wasn't usual, but it was to hide a large scar you had over the left side of your mouth from when you first met Weiss and fought with Winter against the White Fang. The scar reached from the left corner of the mouth and went along the cheek and exposed some of your teeth so this was to make you look as normal as he could, though thankfully Weiss protested when he asked you to hide away your wolf tail as well.
Protecting Weiss was a fairly simple job as all you did was walk her from her classes and went along with her whenever she went out into the city. Of course there were times when you had to do more than simply walk behind her. You had to protect from protesters of her family's company and every time you did some of the Faunus protesters would call you a traitor while others would just stop and leave when they saw you were one of them. You were glad that you didn't have to fight away anyone since you'd feel the same guilt of when you first betrayed Adam, you would do anything to avoid feeling like that again.
Being the same age as her made Weiss feel much more relaxed as you'd constantly hear the other staff of the house say how she was smiling more often since you had started as her guardian. You two would always talk when you could and became closer every time you did, but there was still the required distance you both had to follow as her father constantly pulled you apart whenever he saw you two laughing together and shouted at you for not doing your job properly. He always made you feel like an actual dog when he grabbed your jackets collar to pull you away and then made you bow your head to apologize as he belittled you as loud as he could as was the case now.
You and Weiss were joking about how some of the rich people of Atlas were acting when you had gone out earlier and now her father had shown up to scold you for being too familiar with her.
"How many times do you have to tell you (Y/n)?!" He shouted as he pointed at you. "You are her protector and nothing more. There is no reason for you to talk to her other than asking if she's alright or needs you for something. Am I clear?"
"Transparently sir. I apologize and I'll try to be more respectful." You said bowing your head.
After that he ordered you to take Weiss up to her room so she could get ready to go out with for some special dinner for his company. When he finally left she walked up to you and stroked your arm to comfort you.
"I'm sorry I didn't say anything to defend you. Are you alright?" she asked trying to meet your (E/c) eyes.
"Don't worry about it." You smiled at her behind your collar. "Knowing him, he would've just yelled at you too. And being your "protector" I would've had to stand up to him." You joked making her chuckle and that made your tail wag from being happy.
The two of you started walking back to her room so she could change for her dad's party.
"I wish my dad would treat you with at least some respect. You've never been anything but kind since we've met and he still treats you like a member of the White Fang." She said as you followed behind her through the large manor.
"To be fair I was a member for a long time so he's not entirely wrong." You shyly admitted.
"Still though!" she threw her fists down as she walked a bit faster. "If you treat someone badly it's only a matter of time before they lash out at you."
"Oh? Weiss are you starting to feel differently about the Faunus?" You said playfully while trying to respect the fear she had for them in the past.
"Wha... I never disliked them!" she pouted as she blushed while looking back at you over her shoulder. "It's just that the only ones that I ever see are either the White Fang or protesting and yelling at me. You're the first Faunus I've ever spoken to and you're nothing like the rumors or scary stories say. I would like to meet more Faunus like you... but I'm scared because of everything that's happened." She confessed, lowering her head sadly.
"Aww, now I feel all special and fuzzy inside." You joked trying to cheer her up as your tail started wagging again.
"Don't be a pest!" She turned and hit your shoulder while you snorted from holding in your laugh.
"Heh, sorry. Seriously though, I'm glad to know you're trying to understand how the Faunus feel. I'm really glad I met you Weiss."
"Y-you are?" she asked with her voice trembling.
"Sure am, you're a good friend."
"A... friend, huh?" she said quietly to herself and lowered her head again.
"Is something wrong?" you asked reaching out to touch her, but she backed away quickly.
"No! Nothing, I'm glad you're my friend too." She said anxiously before starting to walk again.
The party Weiss's dad had dragged her to was as you had expected of the elite of Atlas. All of them dressed in beautiful clothes saying how hard it was to be rich while complaining about their workers. You, like the other bodyguards stayed to the wall watching and that alone was annoying, you could only imagine how much Weiss was suffering seeing her make one uncomfortable face after another standing next to her dad.
She kept looking over at you, hoping to escape the boring conversation and talk to you like she had come to enjoy, but if she did go over to you or if you went over to her, her father would surely make you regret it later. So you behaved yourself and stayed to the side with your hands behind you and only followed her with your eyes as she followed her father around until she finally managed to excuse herself and went outside to get some fresh air. You went along with her, but only until she was in your sight again and waited at a distance as she stood on the balcony by herself.
Though she didn't stay alone for too long as a few minutes later a few boys from the party went outside and circled her. They started hitting on her one after another each using some cheap pickup line trying to impress her. You laughed to yourself at some of them and would even have been impressed if any of them had actually worked on her. After a few minutes of enduring them Weiss turned around and took a step back towards the party, but one of the boys blocked her from her leaving and another grabbed her arm to stop her in place.
You bit down on your teeth at seeing them do this, but stopped before taking another step. The fear of her dad seeing you and then scolding you later sent a chill down your spine and you felt the hairs on your tail stand on end.
"Stop! Let go of me!" Weiss called out, bringing you back to see her struggling.
You hit your leg to knock you out of the daze and started walking towards the boys who holding onto Weiss. You pushed the boy that was blocking her from leaving to the side, making him hit the side of the balcony.
"I'm only going to ask nicely once. Would you please let her go?" you nearly growled at them.
"Are you an idiot?" the boy holding onto Weiss scoffed at you. "Do you have any idea who I am? Get lost before... Argh!" you grabbed his wrist before he could finish and just barely put any force on it before he cried out and let go of Weiss.
"Are you all right?" You asked as she hid behind you.
"Yes, thank you." she nodded and grabbed onto the back of your jacket.
"Let go of me you savage! You're just a Faunus learn your place! Do you have any idea how stupid you're being right now?" the boy squirmed as he tried to escape your grip.
"I was about to ask you the same thing." You said and pushed him back to the railing. "You were just stopping a girl from leaving after she told you no. They have a word for someone like that and it's much worse than Faunus." You growled at him as you pushed him back a little. "If you ever touch her like that again I'll show how much of a savage I can be." You glared at him as your (E/c) eyes shined with your aura.
"What is going on out here?!" you heard Weiss's dad behind you and instantly stepped away from the boy.
"Dad wait." Weiss stepped in front of him before he could walk over to me. "(Y/n) was protecting me. These boys weren't letting me go back inside and he came to help." She explained.
"I see, well good work then (Y/n). I suggest you two leave before I call security. Weiss, come along there are still some people I want to talk to before we leave. (Y/n), you can go back to your post." He commanded everyone and we all did as were told. The boys were escorted out as Weiss followed her dad and I walked back to the wall to keep an eye on her.
When you finally went home you walked Weiss up to her room so she could rest. You stood outside her room so she could change. When she was done changing she asked you inside so she could talk to you.
"I wanted to thank you (Y/n) for coming to my rescue tonight. I knew I'd be safe when I saw you that I nearly hugged you." she said, blushing a bright pink.
"It's my job isn't it? I'll always be there to keep you safe Weiss." You nodded to reassure her.
"So you only protect me... because it's your job? We've known each other for a few years now... and that's still how you see me?" she said clutching her chest in pain. "Don't you even see me as a friend when you're protecting me or are we only friends when we're talking and laughing together?" she cried. "Having you there with me these last few years made me feel like I was someone other than an heiress. You didn't just compliment me... I wanted to try my best to see you smile and see me the best I could be."
"Weiss." You said as you walked to her. "I can't see you as a friend all the time, because there's so much more I want to be to you." you said as you opened your jackets collar to kiss her.
At first she was surprised, but then relaxed into your lips as you held each other. Her soft, smooth skin against your scarred lips and exposed teeth snapped you back to reality and you let go of her and closed your collar again.
"I'm sorry, I got carried away." You bowed slightly and walked away towards the door.
"(Y/n) you idiot!" she screamed, but before you could turn around she had jumped kicked you down to the floor.
"What the hell was that for Weiss?! I already said sorry, don't tell me you're that mad because I kissed you." you shouted as you sat up.
"Of course I'm mad! You kiss me and then walk away trying to be all cool while ignoring my feelings." She pouted, turning her chin up.
"I am cool, I don't need to try! And I wasn't ignoring you."
"Then what would you call it?" she glared at you and put her hands on her hips.
"Weiss... come on. You have to know that you and I can't be together." You said standing up.
"Says who?"
"Umm... well... I don't know! But you can do better than me and I don't want to be your act of rebellion against your dad." Before you realized it she had walked up to you and slapped you across the face. "Can you please stop hitting me?!" you cried rubbing your cheek.
"Whatever problems I might have with my dad, I would never drag someone else into it. And what would you consider "better"? Someone like those boys tonight or someone who stands up for me and makes me feel safe?" she asked glaring at you with her light-blue eyes. "I've thought on these feelings for a while now this isn't just from seeing you protect me tonight."
"Fine then, but would you be fine being with someone who looks like this?" You unzipped your jackets collar again, but this time let her look at your scarred face. "I couldn't look more like a monster if I tried. I'm a Faunus and that would already bring you a lot of trouble. But a face as hideous as mine doesn't deserve someone as beautiful as you." You told her as you let the image of you set in.
"Do I really seem so shallow to you? I judged you wrong the first time we met and I still feel bad about it after all these years. I love you... all of you, your face, your tail and your kindness." She walked up to you and placed her hands on you face.
For a moment you both simply looked into each other's eyes as you tried to comprehend what she had just said. Then she suddenly pinched both you cheeks and started pulling on them.
"Ouch! Weiss stop! It hurts!" you cried as you even closed your eye from the stinging pain.
"I just bared my heart out to you and you just stand there staring at me! Tell me how you feel about me too, idiot!" she growled as she kept pinching you.
"I-I love you too! But I thought I wasn't allowed to say anything since I thought I didn't deserve you." you told her while still having your cheeks stretched out.
"Good." She said letting you go of your cheeks. "Now hug me because my legs are shaking so much I don't think I can stand up for much longer."
"You really are too cute." You whispered, hugging her and holding her close to your chest.
