It was almost night. My parents were not home yet. I was playing with my dolls alone in my playing room.
Suddenly, I felt a chill from behind.
I looked back to check if the door was opened.
There it was, right behind me.
A big, dark figure with pale red eyes, and a very big and wicked smile.
I screamed.
Who wouldn't?
It stepped back, then dark purple cloud appeared from the floor between us.
It stinks.
The room quickly became full of the purple cloud. I couldn't see anything else.
I closed my eyes and walked to a direction with one arm stretched ahead. As I touched a wall, I followed it to one side.
I heard our butler's voice.
"Miss!? Are you alright!?"
I tried to answer, but no sound came out of my mouth.
I realized that I couldn't breathe.
My chest was in great pain.
"Miss!?"
I tripped.

The door was left open when I woke up. The being and the clouds had disappearedI went downstairs, looking for our butler.
He was lying unconscious in the kitchen. I tried to woke him up, but he wouldn't. I waited in the hall, hoping that my parents would arrive soon.
After a while, they arrived.
"Mom! Dad! Oh, where should I start?"
Mom called for me as if I wasn't there.
"Mom? Dad?"
They ignored me.
"Mom! Dad! This is not the time for a joke! Something dangerous entered this house! I saw it in my—"
Mom suddenly went upstairs while Dad to the dining room.
I followed Dad because I was worried for our butler.
"Dad! He is unconscious! I don't know why! Perhaps it is because of that thing! It entered my playing room earlier. The gas stinks! I think I also fell unconscious, but I'm all right."
He found our butler in the kitchen.
Suddenly, Mom screamed.
I followed as he ran to my playing room upstairs.
Mom was there.
She was holding me on the floor.
How could...
Who is...
Why am I there?
Mom cried frantically, trying to woke "me" up. Dad didn't move or say anything. He just stared at "me."
I turned back, trying to make sense of what I saw. As much as I tried to, I couldn't get rid of the reasoning that came to my mind.
I died?
I went to my bedroom.
I must be sleeping. This must be just a dream.
No. A nightmare.
I couldn't open the door. My hands just went through the handle.
I saw Dad carrying "me" to the hall, followed by Mom. They left.
I faced the door again. I still couldn't touch the door handle, so I tried to just move through the door.
I got through it, and I really entered my bedroom. I became even more scared.
My bed was empty. I noticed that the portrait of me on the wall became dark purple.
That wicked eyes was there, staring to me.
Oh, this nightmare is too harsh.
I went to the kitchen to check for our butler. When I entered the dining room, our butler was there.
I went to the kitchen. He was still lying there.
But he was in the dining room!
I couldn't accept it.
There were no tears, but I cried.

That night, several officers came into our house. They immediately went to the kitchen, finding our butler's body. As they carried his body, he just stared in disbelief. Some of them went upstairs, checking my playing room.
After a while, my parents came. Mom was still crying. Dad was embracing her.
One of the officers asked questions to Dad, but he refused to answer. I stood beside them, not knowing what to do.
It was almost morning when they finished checking the house. My parents left with them.
And there I was, trying to accept that it was not even a nightmare.
***
In the following days, my parents returned to take some things from the house. They still left so many things, so I wasn't thinking about them moving out. Several officers also came with them to do a kind of investigation, especially in my playing room. One day, they visited without the officers.
They cleaned the house thoroughly as if they were about to stay here again. I was so happy, but Mom kept crying. I followed them and tried to cheer them up even though they couldn't hear me.
They spent all day cleaning the house. In the evening, they stood together in the hall. Mom cried and Dad embraced her, also with watery eyes.
I was there with our butler.
It was painful to watch them cry.
When the night fell, Mom had calmed a little. I heard a whisper between her sobs.
"Good bye, my dear."
They left.
I stayed behind the window, waiting for them to return. I promised myself to stay in this place because I believed that they will return.
I still believe...
I still want to believe it, even though they haven't returned since then.
