I woke up to the noise of a flash. It was Glenn's polaroid of course. Maggie nudged Glenn and shushed him. I opened my eyes, most of everyone was gone. We were parked, it was pitch black out other then the fire being started by Glenn and Maggie. The flames grew higher and higher, eventually they sat back down. I lifted my head up to see I was laying on Carl's shoulder. He started to wake up.
"Sorry.."
"Don't worry about it." He smiled. Carl crawled off the back of the truck and helped me down. We went over by the fire and sat down on the other side of Glenn and Maggie. Glenn took another picture of us. This time Carl jumped up and chased after him. Maggie yelled," Be quiet!" They all started laughing.
"The others went to find some food and gas." Maggie threw a few sticks in the fire, I stood up to help.
"How long was I asleep?" I grabbed a few more twigs.
"Few hours. Your breathing went back to normal, so none of us bothered to wake you up."
"And Carl?"
"He waited til you were asleep."
I couldn't help but smile, she laughed and nudged me.
"I think its cute." She said.
"What's that?"
"You two."
I laughed. "There's no place for love in a war."
She looked over at Glenn and Carl who were sitting down in the back of the truck, talking.
Maggie and I sat down. "Love is a war. Its your choice to fight in it alone, or with someone."
"You remind me of my sister. Always knew what to say, and what to do." I said to her, she smiled and looked over to Glenn again.
A pain shot up my shoulder, into my chest. I held my right hand over my heart, it started hurting to breathe. I grasped the grass with my other hand. "You alright?" I shot a weak smile, "Just a little rusty since the governor nearly sunk into me." She rubbed my back, just like how my mom used to. Glenn and Carl were walking back over to us. Glenn took a picture of me and Maggie.
He shook the picture for the image to show faster. He smiled. "This is a good one." Carl looked over his shoulder. "What are those? Those eyes?" Carl's and Glenn's eyes lit up. "Behind you!"
Maggie and I turned around quickly and a walker tackled me from behind. I let out a cry and Maggie tried to pull me out from under it. Carl tried to grab it from the leg but it just ripped off, sending him backwards to the ground. Glenn ran to the car for a gun.
I flipped myself over onto my stomach, pushing the walker away from my face as much as I could. Maggie was holding onto its hands, holding them above its back. I was using all strength to keep its teeth away from my face. I pressed my hands around its neck, pushing it upwards. Instead my fingers dug into its neck, digging through, pouring what ever was left of its throat onto me.
I growled in disgust. I dragged my feet up to its stomach. "Let go!" They jumped back. I kicked the walker over my head, sending it straight in the fire. Maggie and Carl helped me up, hugging me. They both checked for any scratches or bites.
"I'm fine. The neck broke open. That's all."
"For once that camera has a point to it."
We all stood in front of the fire, a burst of sparks and flames shot up from the middle of the fire. We started walking back when the walker started walking forward. We reached to the log and couldn't take any more further steps. Glenn ran back from the car, shooting the walker dead in the head. He threw a blanket over it to stop the flames.
