He stared back at me for a long time, and I became aware of how close we were sitting. It was freezing but we were so close I could literally feel his warmth on me. Without really realizing what was happening, Louis' hand began to caress my curls, our faces literally inches away. I didn't really understand what I was feeling, but before I knew it, Louis was leaning in. Louis was leaning into my lips and I wasn't sure how to react, but I wanted to kiss him so bad.
Louis' lips inched closer to mine, time was frozen. I wanted to kiss him, I really did, but a thought popped in my head. Louis had a boyfriend. Louis had a boyfriend and I was centimeters away from making him a cheater. I couldn't. Before our lips touched, I turned my head away and scooted back, breaking our contact. Clearing my throat, I ran a hand through my curly fringe.
I almost kissed Louis Tomlinson.
"Um... I'm sorry, I just, I don't know," Louis began after a pause, his cheeks obviously flustered and his hands stuffed in his jacket pockets.
"No-o, no, I-It's not-... Li-like, we both," I loudly cleared my throat, knowing that sentence wasn't working very well.
Louis eyes met mine, and he smiled sympathetically. My occasional stutter was acting up.
A minute or so went by before Louis finally spoke.
"Harry... that was a mistake. I love Niall, and I just got carried away. You're still my best friend," his voice was full of regret, making me feel terrible.
The boy I love nearly kissed me, and now he's telling me right in the face that it was a mistake, that all we'll ever be is friends. It hurt, but Louis was my best friend, so I simply smiled.
"Yeah... sorry-y, I-I got caught up-p in the moment," I stuttered out, watching Louis' face become very sympathetic towards me.
"Still best mates?" Louis asked, his voice taking a happier tone.
"Of course."
I loved Louis, but I wasn't about to make him a cheater.

We walked around the park for about an hour, letting the chilly weather consume us.
"Oh, Harry, I almost forgot. Those things Zayn said to you, they aren't true. I never said those things," Louis said suddenly, in between our conversation. Luckily the awkward tension from the near kiss vanished.
I smiled. I knew he never said those things. Zayn really was a big ass.
"And I won't ever talk to him again, I swear. He's a total ass," I laughed a bit, Louis could read my mind. After a beat our conversation started again. Even in the cold weather, I felt warm. Louis made me feel so much better. He was basically the human version of the sun. Unconsciously, I scratched the bandage covering my wounds, unaware of Louis watching me.
"Let me see your arm, Haz," Louis' voice was calm. We stopped in our tracks, and I let Louis gently take my arm in his petite hands. He rolled up my jacket sleeve and sighed. The bandage was more red than white.
I really cut too deep.
"We need to change that, it'll get infected," Louis said, pulling my sleeve back down and heading towards the car. "My Mum is a nurse, so we have supplies at my house," he finished.
