one"what the—" yoongi heard namjoon exclaim in the dark. "hoseok, did you forget to pay the bills again?"
"what?" a voice shouted in response, who yoongi figured was hoseok. "i paid the bills! i swear!"
"it might be a blackout," jin piped, concern laced around his tone. a few made sounds of agreement. yoongi heaved an inaudible sigh – he hated blackouts, especially the types that take so long to end. he just hoped that this blackout won't be long-term, he wouldn't be able to cope with it otherwise.
yoongi felt a tug on his sleeve, causing him to jump in his seat, a high yelp escaping his lips.
"relax, hyung. it's just me," yoongi heard jimin say beside him, stifling his laughter.
yoongi stayed frozen for a moment, trying to process what had happened. he then scoffed, cheeks turning slightly pink. yoongi could see some of jimin's features in the dark — although they weren't that clear — and seeing jimin with a huge grin on his face, attempting to prevent giggles from coming off his mouth caused yoongi to slap jimin's thigh painfully, a glare evident on his face.
"you scared the shit out of me," yoongi said as jimin bursted into a fit of giggles. yoongi huffed.
"we really need to light up some candles," namjoon said. "taehyung should definitely be the one who'd get them."
yoongi heard taehyung make an inhuman noise. "why me? what about jungkook? he's the youngest!"
"he's been doing all of us favors, it's time for the poor boy to rest," jin stifled a laugh. "and since you're the second youngest, you'd have to do it."
"i'll just ask yoongi-hyung to do it for me, then—"
"no."
"but, hyung!" taehyung whined. "you owe me a favor!"
"yeah, but—"
"hey, guys! did you know that yoong—"
"don't you dare," yoongi half-yelled as he sat up, feeling himself turn red. he could see the unclear facial features of the mischievous male, an obvious smile of victory etched across his face. yoongi knew taehyung had him now; he knew very clearly that he couldn't go back once he entered the male's traps.
"what is it?" jimin asked with anticipation. yoongi immediately shot a look at taehyung, as if warning him not to speak up.
"fine," yoongi muttered. "i'll do it. just don't tell anyone."
"awe. i wanted to know," hoseok pouted.
taehyung grinned. "thanks, hyung!"
"i swear, taehyung," yoongi sighed in exasperation. he wondered why he was still surprised up until now. this wasn't the first time this had happened. taehyung was the master when it came to blackmailing; he would literally use anything against you and when yoongi said anything, he meant anything.
yoongi stood up on his two feet. "where do you put your candles?"
hoseok thought for a moment. "in the kitchen. either the first drawer or the second one, im not really sure."
"okay," yoongi deadpanned, turning his heel. he heard the small laugh that came from behind him. "i heard that, jimin."
jimin giggled. "sorry, hyung."
yoongi walked further into the dark, using his hands to touch the walls. he had visited hoseok's house numerous times, so he was able to identify where he was at through the structure of the place. he walked cautiously, careful not to trip on anything. going further in the darkness, his friends' voices became more distant.
he continued to walk, trailing his fingers. he felt a shiver rush down his spine when the boys' voices became fainter and fainter, until he couldn't hear them anymore.
yoongi sighed in relief once his fingers touched the oh-so-familiar coffee maker hoseok always had on top of his kitchen counter; that was a sign he was in the kitchen.
either the first drawer or the second one. yoongi thought, quickly walking towards where the drawers were. he was not going to lie — the dark was starting to creep him out a bit.
yoongi patted the outside of the first drawer, trying to figure out where the handle was. finding where it was located, he pulled it, allowing the wood to make a rather strained noise. yoongi was about to put his hand into the drawer when he felt something touch his feet.
yoongi's heart raced.
he slowly moved his foot in a circle, trying to figure out what it was — but there was nothing. he gulped, his lips starting to quiver. he then bit his lip and shook his head, attempting to calm himself down. he was probably just imagining things.
he stuck his hand into the drawer, his hands not leaving any area unexplored. upon realizing that there were no candles, he withdrew his hand and closed the drawer instantaneously. yoongi rashly opened the second drawer, his anxiety starting to crawl up onto his skin. calm down, it was probably just nothing.
yoongi froze when he heard dragging.
he kept quiet. it was very faint, but yoongi was able to catch on to it. it sounded like something was being pulled against the floor. the dragging sounded slow, quiet — careful. it felt cautious — it felt like the dragging was supposed to be done carefully for no one to hear it. yoongi was frozen in his spot, hearing nothing except for the faint sound of the nerve-wracking pulling.
then it stopped.
it almost seemed as if it knew yoongi had heard it. his breath hitched, quickly placing his hand inside the second drawer, making as much noise as possible. his heart was palpitating and he wasn't even trying to find the candles anymore. despite the loud noises he was purposely making, yoongi tried to listen to the dragging as much as possible.
he heard the tightening of a rope, but it subsided.
the lights suddenly flickered on. yoongi gulped, he needed to quickly get out of here before—
there was a scream.
yoongi's eyes instantly widened at the sound. it was hoseok. he slammed the drawer shut, running towards where his friends where at.
"what's wrong—" he was cut short, his face immediately paling at the sight.
there, hanging with a tight noose wrapped around his neck, was jungkook. his eyes were bloodshot red, clear terror written all over them. a white cloth was tied around his mouth — although, it did not even seem as white anymore due to the fresh blood that stained on it. the rest of his body hanged, his lower half moving slightly.
but what yoongi noticed the most was something that jungkook held in his hand.
it was a card.
a blue one, to be exact.
