Momo peaked down the crevasse atop Mt Ebott. She could just barely make out something yellow down inside the mountain. It was something that shined with this explainable passion and love to it. Driven by curiosity, Momo couldn't help but take another step forward to see more. Her heart thrashed in her chest as her foot suddenly got caught by a vine. She fell forward, and slipped, slowly falling down the hole, her shrieks forgotten in the wind.
When she woke up, she found herself over a bed of golden flowers. She rubbed her eyes, sneezed, and looked at her new surroundings. There was a little patch of plain green grass circling the flowers, but otherwise Momo only found darkness. Her breath a little shaky, she slowly stood up. She squinted her eyes and found a small object in a blob of light. She started walking towards it, but paused. She looked up at the blue sky, which seemed to have more looming clouds than usual. One particular cloud floated directly above Momo, elongating her shadow on the ground, giving her an eerie feeling.
Determined, Momo pushed away her fears as she ran towards the object. Perhaps it was something that could help her return to the surface? Before she knew it, she was face-to-face to a daisy-like flower with a smiling face.
"Howdy! I'm Flowey, Flowey the flower!"
Momo abruptly jumped in shock and slipped down to the floor, surprised at the flower's speech.
"You're new to the Underground, aren't cha?" Flowey continued, and Momo meekly nodded.
"Golly, you must be so confused. Someone ought to teach you how things work around here! I guess little old me will have to do."
Momo was slightly worried at the unusual enthusiasm and friendliness of the flower, especially since she was a stranger to the plant. Momo noticed Flowey giving her an odd look.
"You can speak, can't cha?" Flowey asked. Momo started to nod again, but paused.
"I mean, yes, sir."
"Sir, ey? Well, why thank you!" Flowey flipped his petals in a boastful fashion, and Momo giggled. She felt a little more comfortable now around the flower. "Anyways! You ready?"
Momo looked down at her green and pink striped sweater and found a red heart pulsing brightly on the threads. "See that heart? That's your soul, the very culmination of your being. Your soul starts off weak, but can grow stronger if you gain lots of LV."
"What's LV?" Momo inquired, still staring at the new shape on her sweater, occasionally poking at it, in which it hummed playfully back at her.
"Why, love, of course!" Flowey said. "You want some love, won't you?"
"Well, I-I guess I do." Momo mumbled, ignoring the new heart on her sweater and looking at Flowey. "How do I get more?"
"Don't worry, I'll share some with you!" Flowey exclaimed. White little specs suddenly appeared around Flowey. "Down here, love is shared through..." Flowey paused. "Little white.. 'friendliness pellets'. Are you ready?s"
Momo slowly nodded. After seeing the friendliness pellets appear, she felt a little skeptical. But Flowey was a nice flower. He wouldn't hurt her, right? Why would it?
"Move around, get as many as you can!" The white specs floated towards Momo. Out of adrenaline and instinct, Momo ducked and the pellets flew over her head. Flowey's expression turned into a look of annoyance. "Hey buddy, I think you missed them all. You want love, don't cha?"
"I, I-I'm sorry." Momo apologized, sitting back up, ashamed. "It must've been instinct... I'll catch them all this time!" Flowey smirked at little Momo before summoning the friendliness pellets again. Momo sat still and closed her eyes, making sure not to dodge or duck any more 'love'.
Momo's body was filled with sharp pain. She opened her eyes and was greeted by Flowey's creepy grin, its face twisted with loathing. The heart shape on her sweater now had a couple small cracks.
"You idiot." Flowey said. "In this world, its kill or be killed. Why would ANYONE pass up an opportunity like this?!"
Momo slowly crawled back, horrified by the sudden change of nature from Flowey. Had she done something to the flower? All Momo had done was do as he asked...
The white pellets created a circle around her, giving her no change of escape. "DIE." The pellets started closing in on her. She hugged her knees, her whole body shaking with pain, fear, and confusion. The evil flower laughed uncontrollably.
Suddenly, the pellets dissipated. Flowey frowned, obviously confused. A fireball emerged from thin air next to Flowey, and the flower stared at it in horror as it flew towards him, making him fly out of the ground and landing somewhere in the darkness. Momo looked up and saw a humanoid goat hybrid lady that Momo wasn't quite sure how to describe. The creature wore a deep purple sleeveless dress with a blue emblem.
"What a terrible creature, torturing such a poor, innocent youth..." It said, staring at the direction Flowey disappeared into. It turned to face Momo, who cowered before the creature.
"Ah, do not be afraid, my child. I am Toriel, caretaker of the Ruins." Toriel bent down to face Momo at eye-level, and spoke in a soothing voice. "I pass through this place every day to see if anyone has fallen down. You are the first human to come here in a long time."
She sighed when she noticed Momo's fearful expression. "I promise you I wont cause you pain like that awful creature did."
"Really?" Momo asked, her voice quivering. Toriel smiled, and nodded.
"Come! I will guide you through the catacombs." Toriel reached out her hand and helped Momo stand up. "This way."
Toriel walked towards a purple, fancy doorway. Momo followed, having to sprint to catch up to her. Walking through the doorway, she was welcomed by a purple-bricked room. Twin white staircases branched off to the sides and spiraled up to a higher up platform. Red leaves lay on the floor near the base of the stairs. As Toriel walked up the stairs, Momo ran up to the leaves, jumping in them and flinging them around playfully. She giggled, almost forgetting the predicament that had befallen her only mere minutes ago.
