Running away

I ran and ran. I didn't know which way to go but I knew I had to get away from him. He wanted to kill me because of my powers. Was this really happening. I would rather have people bully me than people after me trying to kill me. I was getting tired, my feet were getting heavy just when I was about to stop to take a breath I heard him behind me. He had caught up to me, than again he was on a horse and I was on foot. So I kept running hoping for a miracle. Just when I felt him get close enough and I taught he would grab me I fell down a hole. I landed hard, it was a miracle I didn't brake anything but I bet I would have some bruises. I looked up too see how far I fell. It looked to be about a ten foot dropped. I looked around to look for a way out when I noticed yellow eyes staring at me from a corner of the hole. I started to scream.

" AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!"

I soon as I heard her yell I didn't think twice about my actions. I withdrew my swords and dropped down in front of her. I looked in the directions she was facing and faced the beast before me, ready to battle. It was a goblin. Tall, green skin, yellow eyes. Half man half beast. They were slaves to my kingdom. These holes were one of the many built to capture their kind.

It rose to it's full height and got ready to attack. It swung its fist in my direction but I dodged it by ducking. I then swung my sword and cut him in the arm, it howled in pain but swung his other arm my way. I dodge once again bending down and using both swords to cut his legs. It dropped to his knees and just when I was about to end its life, she got between us blocking the beast.

" Move, so I can end this."

" No." I was amazed. She was standing up for something that would have easily killed her without a second thought to her, yet she was protecting it. Never once did I see anything but fear in her and now she stood with her head held high for a hideous beast.

" Move or I'll kill the both of you."

" No. He was only scared and that's the way he reacted."

" He would kill you, they have no sympathy for any creature. Now move, I will not repeat myself."

" No." she looked at me pleadingly and I felt myself give in." Please don't. He's hurt, what's the worst he can do in his condition."

When I saw him jump down and defend me the way he did, I was amazed. He put himself in danger just for me, even if it was to use me or kill me later I was still grateful. I watch him battle the thing, whatever it was. His movements were quick and graceful while the beast were wild but with much force. But when I saw him about to kill it ,I had to step in. I knew the only reason it attacked was because it was scared and did what all animals did, even humans do when they were scared, it attacked. Before I could think about what I was doing I was in front of it facing him. I saw shock  in his face but it quickly turned to anger, as I continued to ignore him telling me to move. I really couldn't believe what I was doing. Me, shy, push over, the one who hid from everyone, was now standing in front of a man with two swords defending something I didn't know. Who would have thought it. But I just couldn't let him kill it. Just when I taught he would do it anyways he grabbed me and untied my ropes and face the wall of dirt.

" Grab on." as I grabbed him piggy back style he used his swords to climb the wall of dirt. I looked one more time at the thing and saw it looking at me with confusion in it's yellow eyes. When we made it to the top he grabbed me and tied my hands again but this time in the front. Never once did he look at me. He was angry but I didn't know whether it was angry with me or with himself. Either way I was grateful he let the thing live. Maybe he wasn't so bad. Plus he had protected me.

" Thank you."He grabbed me by my hair and pulled making me grimace in pain.

" Do not thank me. The only reason your still alive is because I need you, and if you are to die, is going to be by my hands and no one else. If you ever try and run as you did I will not hesitate to kill you." he let go and walked away. He came back with another rope that he tide my my rope and the saddle. Looks like I was walking. Before he had time to get the horse to move I saw a vine near the hole and pushed it into the hole before we were moving again. I just hope it was enough to help the thing inside the hole escape. Something I couldn't do. But now I wasn't that afraid of him. He was still cruel, but as much as he might deny it, he just let the creature live for me. He wasn't completely evil.
