I recently watched 'The hobbit, The desolation of smaug'. And I kind of fell in love with the Kili/Tauriel pairing. So when my english teacher gave us the assignment to write a scene that could have happend (in the book) but didn't. I thought, why not introduce Tauriel to the book version of the story and I wrote this. If there  are any grammer mistakes don't hessitate to point them out, my english is not that good.

To say I was surprised ,when Bilbo showed up out of nowhere and unlocked my cell, was an understatement. I was still wondering how he managed to stay unseen when we were following him to, what seemed to be, the lowest cellars. We passed two sleeping elves and a smile crept onto my face, maybe the little hobbit was a better burglar than we expected. Bilbo led us to the middle of the room and pointed at some barrels.

´Be quick!´ He told us. ´Find the largest barrels and hide in them!´

We quickly found some barrels with enough room for a dwarf and started climbing inside. After a little struggling I managed to get inside of a large wine-barrel, I poked my head out just in time to see Bombur, who had been our lookout,  running into the room. He was out of breath but managed to tell us there were some elves coming. After half a minute of hearing Bombur and Bilbo struggle to get the fat dwarf in a barrel, I climbed out of my own and helped to get him in. At the same time I heard footsteps walking down the hallway and ran over to the wine-barrel. The footsteps were getting closer and closer and I was struggling to get into the reeking barrel when I realized we had made a mistake. We had forgotten about Bilbo! I quickly started searching for a barrel that would have enough space for the hobbit, but the footsteps were getting closer. Any moment now the elves could arrive and drag us back to those horrid cells. I quickly made my decision, there was only one barrel and our burglar had already risked his life enough for one day. I quietly hissed at him to climb in the wine-barrel and in his shock and fear he did as asked without questioning me. He fitted much easier than me and poked his head out.

‘Kili,’ he started, ‘where are you going to hide?’

I tried smirking but realised it looked half-hearted when his expression fell. Before he could protest I picked up the lid and closed his barrel. Only just in time, because before I even had time to hide the footsteps stopped in front of the door. I slowly turned and saw the arrogant white blond-haired leader elf, who’s name I remembered to be Legolas and an armed she-elf. The latter already had an arrow on the string of her bow and was aiming at me. I had no weapons, so I didn’t stand a chance. They took me back to the cell but not before I had seen the barrels, containing my friends and my brother, Fili, being dropped into the water. At least part of the plan had worked, they escaped. All I could do now was hope they would leave me behind for the time being. They had a deadline to make on Durinsday and the elves wouldn’t dare harming me if I told them I was Thorin Oakenshield’s sisters-son...well, I hoped they wouldn’t.

The elves were a bit smarter this time, they had a guard stationed just outside my cell at all times. No matter how hard I tried to make conversation, they never responded. So now I was bored, I didn’t have Fili or my friends to talk to so I just sat there. After a while I picked up a small stone and started throwing it against the wall, just for the fun of it. I had been doing that for a few minutes when the guard outside my cell, the same she-elf as before, groaned in frustration. I smiled and threw the stone even harder against the wall, making as much noise as possible. After a minute or two I finally got a reaction.

‘Will you stop it!’

I smirked for real now, ‘I will, if you talk to me.’

‘I am talking to you, aren’t I?’ she said, with a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.

‘You know what I mean, a real conversation.’

She was about to reply when an elf descended the stairs, it was the blond elf, Legolas, or prince Legolas as I had learned. He called out for her and they talked in elfish for a little while. Then he threw me a dirty look, which I returned,  and he was gone again.

‘Ok,’ the she-elf said after a few minutes of silence, ‘I will hold a decent conversation with you, if you tell me where the other dwarfs are.’

I thought about that for a moment. ‘I don’t know where they are.’ I said, quite honest, for I did in fact not know where exactly they were. The elf sighted and then locked her eyes with mine.

‘What is your name?’ I asked, quite suddenly, surprising her and myself.

‘Tauriel,’ she replied, to my astonishment, ‘what is yours?’

‘Kili,’ I answered, still surprised she even replied in the first place, ‘my name is Kili.’

‘Well Kili, I think both of us will be stuck here for quite a while, how about that conversation?’
