The white ceiling came into your view and faint mumbles caught your attention among other low hums of the machine. You tried to turn your head towards the conversation however the body clearly had other plan for that moment. Those eyelids weighted more than you could handle and the white scenery blended into black.
"Hey---me on."
You forced to push the heaviness from your eyelid. The burning sting in your tired eyes after slumber egged you back to sleep but the voices became more comprehensible.
"Hey, seriously. Come on with us. We'll be late." The husky voice encouraged you to finally sitting up straight by your seat. Your gaze found the small personal computer on the table, the power was on. Thinking back, you remembered that you in the classroom writing your short story, now it was halfway done. The last thing you typed was some incomprehensible alphabets and special characters mushed together. Did you fall asleep again while writing? Maybe a cup of caffeine would do good for the drowsiness.
Beyond your workplace, you discovered a group of rowdy people conversing with each other. Well to be more specific, a demanding girl was making a racket at her friends for not listening to her, the said girl was Pauline. The husky voice was belonged to Vin, the intimidatingly tall yet tender- faced man was Vin. They were the so-called 'parent' type of the group, you smirked slightly at the thought of calling them 'Mom' or 'Dad'. Pauline would turn into fifty shades of red and spluttered random sentences while trying to silence you with her punches. Vin on the other hand, would just chuckled at her response and coaxed her to overlook with the teasing.
"Alright, alright." The braided brunette sitting at the next table, who was grinning from ear to ear, caught your attention. "Sheesh 'mom'. You don't need to nag." A soft snicker escaped from your throat before you could slap your mouth shut. Luckily, Pauline was glaring a hole right into the brunette's head and not towards your direction.
Pauline continued her sermon and this time, it was solely and exclusively for the brunette. "Lucille, I swear..." There was a subtle chilling tone lacing around her words. Pauline was smiling sweetly but her words didn't match up with her expression. "I will bury you alive when this is over." Gulping down the saliva down the dry throat, you quietly shrunk yourself further into the seat while making a memo to not ever call her that. She sighed and groaned tiredly, stroking her pulsating temples while Lucille was still grinning without a care of her potential deadly aftermath.
"Alrighty then, shall we be on our way now? We shouldn't keep them waiting for us." Even though Vin smiled kindly to everyone in the classroom, you noticed a tinged of melancholy in his words. You opted to inquire answers from him before Lucille gracefully interrupted your questions with a loud earsplitting screech.
"Shoot! You're right!! We have to buy some things on the way there too!" Lucille's face was pale, coloured with terror before being smacked behind the head by Pauline for being too noisy. Pauline, the Spartan commander was yet again lecturing the overly-dramatic Lucille. While you were gathering all of the messy notes and laptop into the dark blue sling bag, Vin on the other hand was on his quest to snuffed out the wrath of the commander.
A summer breeze comes knocking again
I open up just to let in the sun
And all I hear are those fleeting tweeting notes they carry awayThe song covered by your favorite Youtuber began to play by itself in your head, the song was called Summertime Record by JubyPhonics. The melody of piano seemed to lulled the summer breeze wafting into the room, calming your heart and the others from their dispute as well.
Closing your eyes and embracing the cool wind, blurred cracked images sprung out from the depth of your memory. A sudden high-pitched ringing overlapped the gentle melody causing you to grimace and shielded your ears. The ringing dissipated abruptly as quickly as it came and only the whispers of the rustling leaves and your pounding heart could be heard. What was that you wondered? You couldn't even grasp the images before it vanished back into your memory.
