Fighting The Odds [A Merome Fan Fiction]

Chapter 1

Jerome's POV

I saw the clock count down from 50. When it reached ten my bacca heart dropped to the bottom of my body and I looked around, there are 23 other tributes and none want to team with me. They would rather team with the running champion, Mitchell. He spawned to the left of me, which made me scared.

When we were released, I ran to spawn faster than everyone else and grabbed the item I had my eyes on. A diamond axe, or Betty. I gripped onto the axe with my right hand and punched the person in the stomach next to me with my left. His big blue eyes screamed mercy, but a bacc gotta do what a bacc gotta do.

"Please." He cried.

'I'm sorry.' I mouthed, chopping his head off, leaving a stain of blood on my axe. Then I heard it, the very first cannon. I killed the first person in the 74th Minecraftia survival games.

Mitch's POV

I had received an iron chest plate, one stone sword and the thing I was trained to use, a bow and 15 arrows. I turned my head and saw the bacca, Jerome, kill my district 2 'friend'. I could've killed him there, but I was going to kill Jason anyways.

I ran into the woods, not daring to look back. Even a champion can get scared, and I am scared.

I ran across a district the 5 girl, Sam, she has purple hair and black soulful eyes. Her flower band lay on her head and leather boots made me hide my sword. I want those boots.

"M-M-Mitch. P-P-Please y-you d-don't hav-have to!" She stuttered, crashing to the floor, crawling backwards.

"Sorry I'm not sorry." I said in a jerky voice. I stabbed her in the heart, blood gushed everywhere and her eyes rolled to the back of her head. I remembered the terror in the eyes of the first person I killed. And it haunts me every time I sleep.

I heard the cannon. "BOOM!" I yelled, making my way back to the Cornucopia. I checked every chest. I found an iron sword, chain legs and a lot of raw fish and cooked fish. I slipped on the legs and my leather boots, ready to go and fight.
