THE TWINS

PART ONE

As each day passes by,one of the important thing that makes me happy is the thought of being with a loving family. It's true that mum and I are living together wonderfully. Mum and I are in fact the best of friends,we do everything together. I'm really glad to have her as my mum,but the thought of not knowing who my dad is makes me sad. And I know that mum also want dad to be with us,but whenever I ask my mum about my dad,she tells me there's nothing to tell about him since he left us a long time ago. I don't know why she doesn't want to talk about him. I don't know anything about my dad and I don't know why he left us. I really want to know who my dad is. Nicole Anderson is my name and this is my story.

Me: Hello mum, good morning, I'm off to school.
Mum: Alright sweety, bye!
I'm in school right now and I'm reading a novel. Reading is one of my hobbies and it has really helped me to take my mind off the situation of not knowing who my dad is. Suddenly,one of my friends named Nicholas comes to sit beside me.
Nicholas: Good morning Nicole,how're you?
Me: I'm good and you?
Nicholas: I'm also good. I can see you're almost done with the reading of this novel.
Me: Yes,I'm almost done. So what are you doing with your free period?
Nicholas: I really miss you so I would love to spend all my time with you.
Me: Alright that would be cool.
Nicholas: Can you please read it to my hearing?
Me: Yes,I will.
So I'm reading my novel to Nicholas' hearing. Two of our friends Harry and Prince also joins us. These three awesome and funny guys always make me happy. They spend almost all the time in my house. In fact,we're a family. The free period is over and our lecture periods are in succession. After the lectures,we receive a message that all students will be going on camping on an island  during the vacation.  School has closed and I and my friends are on our way home discussing how the vacation and camping will be like.
Me: This would be my first camping guys. I don't know how it will be like.
Harry: Really,this is also my first camping.
Prince and Nicholas: Wow! Both of you have a lot of things in common!!
Harry and I aren't surprised at the response of the two guys because both of us and almost everyone knows that we have similar experiences and the same likes.
Prince: I've also not really camped before.
Nicholas: Well I have camped before so this will be my second camping.
All of us then asks Nicholas the same question.
Me,Harry and Prince: So tell us,what do you do when camping?! Is camping fan?! How is it like to camp?!
Nicholas: Alright! Come down,please. Camping is fan. When camping,you're able to learn and discover new things,meet new friends and many more. Camping is really a lot of fun!!!
Me,Harry and Prince: Wow!!!
And we all burst into laughter.
Me: We have about two weeks to vacate guys.
Prince: Yes,we're vacating in two weeks time.
Harry: This means that the camping will be in about two weeks time.
Nicholas: Yeah!
Me: Alright guys, see you tomorrow!
Nicholas, Prince and Harry: See you!
I've just arrived home and I'm moving straight into my room to study. I really hope that this camping trip will be fun. Mum hasn't yet returned from work. I can't wait to tell her about the camping trip but I don't know how she would take it because the camping trip will last for a month and I really hope she can cope without me.
      "After some hours"
Mum has just arrived home. I must talk to her now,I can't wait.
Me: Mum,welcome! How was your day?
Mum: Thank you! My day was great! What about yours?
Me: My day was great as well! Please Mum, I need to talk to you.
Mum: Alright sweety,I'm listening.
Me: We'll be going on a camping trip this vacation. And the trip will last for a month. The trip was organized by the University. I hope you'll be okay if I embark on this trip?
Mum: I will miss you Darling, but I'll be okay,don't worry about me. You know that the only thing that makes me happy is to see you happy. If you want to embark on this trip, you have all my love and support.
Me: I love you mum,thank you. I'll really miss you.
Mum: Well,it's late,you should go to bed,sweet dreams,Darling.
Me: Alright,same here mum.
It's morning, and as a normal school day I'm in school. School activities are ongoing.
(After some hours) School is about to close and the headmaster is about to give an announcement. He announces to all the students that students from different universities will be camping with us. He is done with giving the announcement and the school has closed. I'm on my way home with my friends and as usual we're having a lot of fun. Since we were told about the camping trip,I've not really felt like going on this camping trip, I don't no why I feel like that but I've not told anyone about it.
(Few minutes later)
I've arrived home so I'm waiting for mum to come home so that I can tell her about how I feel about the camping trip, I seriously need mum's advice about this, although I think I need this trip,especially this time that I seriously want to know who my father is.
Mum: Nicole! I'm home!!
Me: Welcome mum! I missed you!
Mum: I missed you too lovely baby! How're you?
Me: I'm fine Mum but I need your advice about this camping trip.
Mum: What is it about the camping trip?
Me: I don't feel like going to the trip.
Mum: Why?
Me: I don't know why,Mum.
Mum: I think you should go,but if you don't want to go,it's alright. You don't have to bother about it. And I also think this is the first camping trip you're embarking that's why you're feeling like that. It's normal for you to feel that way.
Me: Thank you Mum,I really do appreciate your wonderful advice. I think I should give it a try,I will go.
Mum: That's my baby! I'm happy for you. I also want you to take very good care of yourself.
Me: I will Mum,I love you so much.
Mum: I love you too,sweety. Alright, can we go and watch the movie now?
Me: Yes please,we can.
(After some few days)
We're on vacation and we'll begin the camping trip tomorrow. With Mum's help,everything for the trip is ready. I'm relaxing whilst watching a movie with Mum.
Me: My phone is ringing,yeah it's Harry. Hi Harry!
Harry: Hi Nicole! How're you doing today?
Me: I'm good and you?
Harry: I'm also good. I really miss you!
Me: I miss you too.
Harry: How're you preparing for tomorrow?
Me: I'm done with my preparation. What about you?
Harry: I'm done with mine too. Did you add enough food for us? You know I like food.
Me: Oh,you're so funny! Don't worry,I'm bringing enough food for us.
Harry: Have you heard from Nicholas and Prince?
Me: Yes,I have. They said they're ready for tomorrow's trip. Alright,see you tomorrow.
Harry: Alright,see you.
(The next day)
Finally! The day is here! All students are supposed to meet at the school to board the bus for the trip. I'm on my way to the school right now and I'll reach there in some few seconds. I've been chatting with Mum on phone since I left home because even though I left home in some few minutes and the trip is just about to begin,I already miss her. (Few minutes later) I've just arrived school and Harry is the only student here. He seems to be extremely happy.
Me: Hi Harry!
Harry: Hi Nicole!
Me: Are we the only students here?
Harry: Yes,we are the only students here.
Me: It seems we came too early.
Harry: Yeah,we can't wait for this trip.
Me: Yeah,you're right! You look so happy,is there a reason to that?
Harry: Of course there is a reason to that. Can you kindly guess?
Me: Let me try…,is it because of the trip.
Harry: No please…
Me: Alright then,kindly tell me why you're so happy.
Harry: I'm happy because of you,because I'm getting the opportunity to be with you.
Me: That's nice to here! I'm also happy to be with you and all my friends. Here comes Nicholas and Prince.
Prince: What's up everyone?
All: Cool.
Me: We're just waiting for the rest of the students so we can begin the trip. Almost all the students are here now,we'll set off very soon.
Prince: Yeah!
It's 7 O'clock in the morning,the bus has taken off. For about an hour now most of the students in the bus are talking and expressing their happiness about the trip while some students are sitting quietly. I'm also sitting quietly and looking at the roadside through the window of the bus. I'm trying to find out where we're going because the only thing we've been told is that we are going for the camping on an island called Greenville island.
(Some hours later)The bus has reached a particular station where all of us must alight from the bus and get on boats that'll take us to the Greenville island. All of us are now on the boat . In fact, since the journey began,everything has been going on nicely. Except that the journey is long and I'm tired. It's 3 O'Clock in the afternoon,we've just arrived at the Greenville island and at the sight of the thick,green forest surrounded by the sea I feel so good and relaxed despite the fact that I'm tired. The island is very quiet,the only noise one can here is the cry of birds and other animals. Wow! I feel so glad to be in this place. We're all busy right now because we are building our tents and making all the necessary arrangements for a good stay. We're all divided into groups with each group having a camp leader. Girls and boys are not supposed to stay in the same tents,so I'm to stay in the tent with four girls,we barely know each other even though we're from the same school. Everything for this camping is set up,all we have to do now is to rest due to our long journey early on. I just don't feel tired again due to the natural and conducive environment I'm in. All I want to do and so I'm doing right now is taking a walk through the trees and enjoying the beautiful, serene atmosphere.
Me: Wow! What a beautiful place!
         A sudden voice from behind
Yeah! A very beautiful place.
I turn to look at the person and finds out that this person is Harry.
Me: Harry! What are you doing here?
Harry: I felt so bored in there so I decided to take a walk. What are you doing here?
Me: I wanted to take a walk through the trees and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere. That's why I'm here.
Harry: That's cool.
We're continuing our walk together and conversing.
Harry: So how do you find the camping?
Me: It's been great but I miss my mum and James.
Harry: Which James are you talking about?
Me: Your kid brother. Don't forget he's my best friend.
Harry: Yeah! I miss him and our parents too.
Me: Why are you staring at me like that,Harry?
Harry: I,I…
Me: It's getting late, we should be going back.
Harry: Yeah
Me: Are you,Nicholas and Prince staying in the same tent?
Harry: Yeah
(Few minutes later)
We're back to our camps and I,Harry,Nicholas and Prince are hanging out. Students from other schools have come to camp here. All of us are having a great time together. (Some hours later)It's late in the night so we're off to bed.
(Hours later)
It's morning, I'm in my tent reading a book. I suddenly hear so many people talk outside. It's like something is happening and I must find out. I come out of the tent to find a large group of people listening to our camp leader talk. And as I run to listen to his talk,I bump into someone,but because I'm in hurry,I tell this person that I'm sorry and begin to walk away. As I move two steps away from this person,I recall the face of the person I just bumped into. I then realize that this person looks just like me,so I turn to look at this person one's again. Is a girl,and she's still standing at where we bumped into each other,looking at me. And since we're close to each other,I decide to introduce myself.
Me: Hi! I'm Nicole and you?
"I'm Nicky",she said.
Me: I hope we see each other again and know more about each other.
Nicky: Yeah! I hope so too.
Me: Nice to meet you.
Nicky: Same here!
Me: Alright,I've to go,see you later.
Nicky: Alright,see you.
(Few minutes have passed)
I think the camp leader has finished talking. I guess I've to ask someone about what he said. As I move back to the tent I see Prince.
Me: There you are!, Prince,can you please tell me what Mr Walter said? " Mr Walter is the name of our camp leader."
Prince: Yeah,he said we'll be divided into several groups, each person with his or her partner,a male and a female. All of us will be going to the forest to explore and find out more about the things in the forest and bring a report about what we've seen.
Me: Alright,thanks for the information. So what are you up to?
Prince: I'm going to prepare for the explore.
Me: Yeah,me too.
Whiles I'm packing my things, I can't stop thinking about Nicky." She looks like me!" I said that loudly. One of the girls called Lucy who lives in the tent with us asks quickly.
" Who looks like you?"
"A girl I met today" I respond.
All my three handsome friends with their new friend named Louis comes inside to see me in the tent.
They've overhead our conversation so Nicholas asks," Who did you see today,Nicole?"
" I saw a girl who looks just like me".I say.
"Wow! That sounds great,doesn't it? Lucy asks.
"Yeah,it does. The thing is,I don't know her,we just met this morning." I say.
"You'll probably see each other again, right?" Says Harry.
"Yeah,I hope so"I respond.
(After some minutes)
My friends and I are out of the tent now. They're gone to their tents while I'm sitting under a tree,thinking about Nicky. Harry suddenly shows up.
Harry: Hi,are you okay?
Me: Yes,I'm okay.
Harry: Are you still thinking about Nicky?
Me: Yeah,I feel we're related and from the way she looked at me,I know she feels the same way too.
Harry: I understand how you feel,but you'll have to stop thinking about her. I know you'll get to know each other.
Me: Yeah
Harry: We're partners so we'll be exploring together. That's great!
Me: Yeah.
Harry: We'll be starting in thirty minute time.
Me: Alright,I want to go rest for a while.
Harry: Alright,get some rest,I'll be waiting for you.
Me: Okay,I'll be with you.
Whiles I'm resting, the thought of Nicky comes to mind again but because we're all busy preparing for the explore,we can't see each other now unless after the explore. As I'm resting I'm thinking to myself,"She really resembles me,could it be that we're related?"
