"I don't know," said Lindsay staring down the cliff at the still water that was daring her. "C'mon! You big baby!," said Cheri,"It was your idea to come up here and jump!" Cheri pulled her bikini top down and stared at the silent water. Lindsay pulled away from the edge making a batch of rocks fall off the side. One by one they splashed in the clear water. "The water is calling my name and it's a 30 minute walk down the hill!" Cheri whined. Lindsay shrugged. Cheri was a freshman as well as Lindsay. They were truly polar opposites, but very good best friends. Lindsay had light brown straight and glossy hair with a slim body and good curves. Lindsay was the type who could wear no makeup and only lip gloss to fit in with the popular group but she truly didn't like them. Cheri had short blonde rough hair, knobby knees and arms, and thought that no makeup in the world could turn her beautiful. Lindsay had a very sweet singing voice and Cheri was only good at archery.

The palm tree swayed over the rocky path making a shadow as Cheri started to walk down. Lindsay hesitated but then blurted out,"Fine! Let's jump!" Cheri rushed back up the hill. "That is just what I wanted to hear!" she shouted as she took hold of Lindsay's sweaty palm. "1," said Cheri. "2," said Lindsay. "3!" they both shouted and jumped down the steep cliff. They hit the water with a splash and sank lower and lower. Lindsay popped up to the surface and climbed onto the bank followed by Cheri. "I lost a swimming shoe!" said Lindsay. "I'll get it!" said Cheri excitedly. Clearly, she was up for another adventure. She dove in the water and Lindsay's face grew red as blotches began to appear on her neck. When Cheri popped up with her shoe a wave of relief washed over her. One that Cheri was alright and another that she wouldn't have to walk home on rocks with no shoe!
