Lindsay sat in the courtyard under her favorite tree. 'The Burbank Sharks' shines brightly in bold letters. The humming of kids echo through the school grounds as Lindsay finished her song, And catches me, before I hit the ground! "Sup?" said Cheri behind her. Lindsay slammed the book shut and looked up at Cheri. She let out a long sigh and put her book away. "Sorry, sorry, at least I didn't read your book," said Cheri holding her hands up as if Lindsay would punch her. They walked to the steps and waited for the bell. When the loud sound of the bell came kids rushed past but Lindsay and Cheri were the first to class. "Okay students we will be learning about molecular structure of-" said the teacher but Lindsay was to busy day dreaming about Andy. The star high school quarter back. A piece of paper slammed on her desk. She looked at the top and in bold words it read:
POP QUIZ
Lindsay let out a sigh and the teacher gave her a glare. Cheri noticed her friends disappointment and began making hand signals. Lindsay stared wondering what she could be telling her. She put out two fingers and a three. Lindsay got the hint and wrote on number two, D. Lindsay followed her instructions all the way through then turned her slip in. Maybe this would be the first time she aced a Pop Quiz.
Cheri felt her pockets and gasped in surprise. "Lindsay have you seen my phone?" asked Cheri and Lindsay shook her head,"The last time I saw it was when we went to go jump off of that cliff." The cool wind wrapped around Lindsay's ankles and she shivered,"We'll keep looking, but let's just go to my house."
The Peterson house stands at three stories tall with a fresh white coat of paint every month and blue shudders and shingles for the roof. Lindsay's room was the biggest. Upstairs in her room a double bed sat in the middle with a nightstand on the right and a book shelf on the left. There were little caves in the walls in her huge closet as beaded strings hung down in front of her bathroom door.
"And so Force equals mass times acceleration!" Cheri explained to Lindsay for the last time. Lindsay had the looks and Cheri had the brains. "Force equals math times acceler- what?" said Lindsay confused. "Mass times-" said Cheri but was interrupted by a rock thrown at the window. Lindsay jumped up to see Andy throwing rocks at her bedroom window. Andy was wearing a black T- shirt with jeans and and tennis shoes. Cheri popped the window open and said,"Busy studying!" She was answered as Andy said,"I'm not looking for you, I'm here for that Lindsay Chik!" Lindsay bounced downstairs and walked up to Andy who reached out his hand. Lindsay gave him a sheet of math work. He nodded and ran off down the street. "Hey, I though I did that sheet for you!" shouted Cheri coming to the yard. "You did! I just copied down my answers for Andy!" said Lindsay happily and took off towards the door. Cheri followed her and grabbed her bag. "What are you doing?" asked Lindsay. "I've gotta go, good luck on the exam." said Cheri and slammed the door as she left.
Lindsay finished her way up the hill and swiped the sand away and away until she saw the glint of plastic. Buried deep in the sand was Cheri's phone that she had left the day they jumped off the cliff. To Lindsay's surprise the phone still worked so she checked Cheri's messages. "Uh, Lindsay? What are you doing here?" Lindsay turned around so fast she almost fell off of the edge. Cheri stood there with her hands on her hips and one eye brow raised. "Ummm,............ Well I....... I uh......... Came uh......... Ummm........ Oh, I found your phone! I came up here to look for it!" Lindsay lied and handed it to Cheri. Cheri smiled and they walked down the hill together. "So why did you come?" asked Lindsay. Cheri shrugged and stopped. "What?" asked Lindsay. Cheri put a finger up to her mouth as a bush rattled. It happened in such of a flash Lindsay barely noticed Andy jumping out of the bush. "Hey girl," said Andy and swung an arm around Lindsay. Lindsay looked deep into his light blue eyes and moved closer to him. Leaning into him she went for a kiss but a hand got in the way. She looked over at Cheri who said,"Get a room!" "Keep walking!" said Lindsay and Andy together. They smiled at each other. Lindsay leaned in again and her lips touched his. The kiss lasted five seconds until Lindsay pulled away and stared back into his eyes. What they didn't realize was some one or something was watching them.
