"Are you sure that you don't want to come?" asked her Mom and Lindsay nodded. "I'll be fine alone, at home!" Lindsay said and pushed her out the door. Lindsay had been home alone before, and she had loved it. She ran upstairs and took out her social studies book. "An object in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced forced," repeated Lindsay over and over. CRReeaaakkk! Lindsay turned her head towards the door. What was that? It sounded like a door. Lindsay tiptoed down the hall and spotted Alexa, one of the cool kids in the kitchen heading towards the stairs. Alexa looked around then climbed the stairs. Lindsay slipped into the hallway closet, put a chair under the doorknob, and looked under the door as Alexa walked into Lindsay's room. Alexa looked under Lindsay's bed and grabbed her box that said piece. She opened it and took out the necklace that was beautiful that had been passed down generations in Lindsay's family. The sound of the knob opening and the front door coming open startled Lindsay. Her mom and dad's laughter filled the kitchen as they set down their groceries. Lindsay quietly went down to the kitchen and played along. Determined to catch Alexa she went back upstairs to her room and was surprised that the necklace was in the box and Alexa wasn't there. Were could she have gone? The closet door banged open and Lindsay was pulled in by Alexa and thrown on the floor. Alexa put a chair under the door and left without Lindsay's necklace through the backdoor. "Mom! Dad!" Lindsay shouted but remembered she had sound proofed her closet for a reason she couldn't remember. It was hopeless shouting so she looked for something to get her out. There was only clothes, shoes, belts, purses, blankets, and scarfs. Lindsay banged on the closet door just as it opened. "Lindsay, how did this happen?" asked her mother as she pointed to the chair. "Umm, I don't know, I came inside my closet, the door shut and I couldn't get it open." She lied. "Lindsay, tell me...... tell me, tell me the truth." said Mom. "That is the truth!" Lindsay shouted and ran for the door. She fell down halfway down the hallway and looked up to see her dad who pushed her back in her room and closed the door. The door slammed and silence filled the air. Lindsay turned around and saw a face at her window.
