Part 6 on edge

The picture of Ms Penelope minus the cat ears.

I look at the clock again. My legs bounce up and down rapidly. Come on clock tick faster. This time of day is always irritating for me. I'm finshed with my work and the only thing left to do is watch the clock and wonder about how Sin is doing.

It doesn't help that he can go both ways. Sometimes he's fine and distracted and other times he's curled up in a corner shaking so bad that the floor beneath moves with him.

I look at the clock again right when it strokes twelve. The timer goes off and everyone gets up. I quickly walk to the door, shifting impatiently as I wait for the other's to form a line. It doesn't take long sense the others are hungry. Ms. Penelope unlocks and opens the doors for us. Four guards line the hallway. It should be more for a class of fifteen. I wonder If something happened in the other parts of the building. The line to  that thought makes me more worried about Sin. I walk a little faster. Ricky notices my uneasiness.

"Worried about your boyfriend?" He shouts. I ignore him as the cafeteria door comes into view. "It would be a shame if he ends up hurt. Especially considering how unstable he is." He continues casually. I turn to look at him. I ponder the possibility of skinning him with a spoon.

He slowly loses his smirk. He steps back. "That won't happen. Especially not by you not unless you want to see hell earlier then planned." I finally say calmly. Everyone has fallen silent at that point. The guards stand ready for a fight. Everyone looks on edge. I relax to much of everyone relief.

If it was just anyone throwing around threats they would just break it up, but I have a tendency to black out when people make me angry enough. I put three or four guards out of commission before the tranquilizers started kicking in. I don't remember anything from my blackouts, but my councilor shows me videos of my blackouts. Yeah, its scary. It never really hit me on how bad it was until I saw myself punch Sin. For a while Sin was scared of me. It broke my heart. I haven't had a blackout since then.

It doesn't matter though. Everyone remembers the destruction. I'm actually glad they're still scared. It keeps Sin safer from the crazies and doctors alike. Since he has hallucinations people take advantage of him a lot. I protect him from that. In short we both put up with each other crazy asses.

I turn around again. The guard knocks on the door, and it opens from the inside. We enter. My eyes search for Sin in our usual place. I'm pleased to see him sitting there with his food. Usually he looks up when my class enters, but oddly enough he stares at his food the whole time.

I walk to the line hoping to get my food quickly. Something is wrong. I grab a plate of spaghetti, a side salad, and a fruit punch and sit down next to Sin. "What's wrong?" I ask. He stiffens but doesn't look at me. "Sin? Are you okay?" Still no response. Anger shoots through me. I hate being ignored. Sin knows this. Calm down. I growl at myself. "Sin please answer me." I plead. He finally looks
at me.

His tired red rimmed eyes look at me sadly. Guilt reflects back like clear pools in his eyes. I flinch a little on the inside. He doesn't deserve to have that look on his face. He's better then everyone I know and that's with his conditions. I look him over for any sign of  injury. "Who taught you today?" I ask finally.

"No one. The hallucinations were too much today. More than usual are showing up. They were yelling and threatening me all the time calling me the seer. Ms. Wilton put me to sleep." I grind my teeth at the last part, but stay silent. "Angel I'm afraid. They hurt me." He lifts his shirt, and I see nail claw marks  Littlebits of raised skin line his stomach and back, although not enough to bleed.

"Did this happen after you went to sleep?"I grind out dragging my teeth together in anger. He nods. How suspicious that he have marks... My vision goes spotty with anger. I shake as it course through me. ...After she puts him... I go in and out again. I clutch my fist ready to rip the --1 apart.

Sin puts his hand over mine. I look at him to see the fear coming off of him. This dampens my anger into sadness."If you fight you will be moved for the night, and then I will be alone. Please just let it go." He blurts out. He pleads with me with his eyes.

I sigh and rub my fingers through my hair. I reluctantly sit. Sin looks startled. I roll my eyes at his surprise, and aggressively eat my food. Sin sits besides me.

"Angel?" He says hesitantly. I look his way, while still slurping spaghetti. "Thank you." He smiles gently and then kisses me on my forehead. I wish I could say it had no effect on me, but really I started choking on my food like an idiot. I swear a noodle went down my wind pipe.

To make matters worse, the cute imbecile just laughed at me. It sounded wild. I love the sound even if it was at my expense. I couldn't help but tease him though. "I almost die and all you can do is laugh." I'm finally able to choke out. This causes him to laugh even harder.

I push him gently away from me. "Sorry, I'm sorry." He says chuckling and gasping.

"No, no, no you were laughing at my pain." I say, pushing him away as he tries to get closer.

"I'm sorry, really. Please forgive me." He asks with the sweetest of smiles.

I snort. "You look scary when you try for innocent. " I say teasingly.

He laughs out right. "Not as scary as you." He shoots back when he can finally breath. I shake my head and start eating my salad.

"Five minutes!" One of the doctors calls out.

This brings me out of my humor a little. "Where's Alessandro?" I ask while looking around. I finally see him walking towards us with a full plate. He must have seen our confused looks because before he gets five feet within the table he can tell that he shouldn't ask.

He plops his plate on the table and digs in. He closely resembles a wild animal. I look on amused. Sin makes a face even though he doesn't eat much better. "So what are we doing for gym?" He asks around a mouth full of spaghetti.

"I don't know. How about soccer?" I suggest. I'm always up for a good game.

"No let's play dodge ball." Sin suggests.

I ponder. "Okay I'm up for it." I look over to Alessandro. He nods, his mouth too full to say anything. "The person who is finished last is it." I reply teasingly. He flips me off.

"Time to line up!" One of the employees yells. We get up... at least Sin and I get up. Alessandro is still trying to hang on to his pasta.

"We're leaving to go get a ball before they're all gone!" I call out to Alessandro. He puts his thumb up while guzzling his juice. Me and Sin run to the line, vaulting over tables and jumping over chairs. Sin of course beats me. I  huff.

"What it's not my fault you're slow." He teases as he puts his blue hair into a ponytail. I shake my head not afraid to say anything to his overly inflated ego.

The line starts moving as soon as we hit the doors. We make a mad dash for the ball bin. Almost everyone does. We are the twelfth one to get there. I pick a bouncy ball and Sin grabs a soccer ball.

Now having the ball in dodge ball we move away from the chaos.  We wait for Alessandro to arrive. Out of the corner of my eye I can see Sin jump occasionally.  I study him. His eyes wonder all around, seeing things I can't. He does a good job not freaking out, but maybe that us just practice. I wonder what he sees. Not that I want to know bad enough to see for myself.

"He's coming." Sin says nodding to the still chewing Alessandro.  I roll my eyes. He isn't going to let that pasta go.

"Are you ready?" Sin asks after witnessing Alessandro swallowing almost painfully. I throw the ball to him. He catches it  inches before it connects with his face.

"Awww, no fun." I call. He glares at me nods his head. Suddenly the ball is flying at me. I dive to the side. "So predictable!" I call. Sin laughs. We both run as Alessandro gets the ball.
