Swift hopes excited seven ordinary teens. Especially one; Sam. It was the last day of school, a day of exams, and Sam was almost late when he hastily raced through the main doors of his school. He saw his friends, marching for the exam hall, and he joined them as they walked past reception on the right of the entrance. Sam was small, and his friends were giants compared to him. He didn't look like he was truly taking his Junior Certificate examinations. But in-fact, he was the oldest one there; out of his friends.
Sam looked towards his oddly silent friends, and saw Mary, Mark and ahead of those two was Carl and Collin walking along side Liam but they weren't talking. And Alan was, behind them all not talking either, but that was just ordinary Alan.
Mark wasn't exactly standing near his girlfriend, Mary. Which was unusual for them. They were both very clingy towards each other. Sam's best guess was that they had an argument, and he decided to let them stay quiet for once. But Sam was still curious, so he talked to Liam, to ask about Mark and Mary.
"Heyooo." Said Sam, as he scurried beside Liam.
Liam glanced to him as the kept walking. "Oh, hey Sam. Was starting to think you weren't coming in."
"Oh yeah, and miss my Tech Graph exam?! Ha, nah man." Sam said sarcastically. He continued.
"Last night I thought about not coming in, but it's the JC, so it's a big deal if I fail anything you know."
"You did the smart thing." Said Liam, patting Sam on the head effortlessly because of his height.
Suddenly, Carl jumped into the conversation.
"Sam did something smart?!" He said jokingly.
"Haha, you know it Carl. But when was the last time you did anything smarter than coming into school for an exam?" Pointed out Sam.
"Hmm, I see your point." Carl said as he scratched his head.
Sam looked back up to Liam. "By the way, I was meaning to ask, what's up with Mark and Mary?" he asked, lowering his voice.
"I don't know much, Mark just said something about Mary's dad catching them together and Mark and Mary had an argument soon after while coming to school talking about the whole thing. Maybe you should talk to him about it." Said Liam.
"Yeah but you know Mark, if you mention Mary once when those two are fighting, it sets mark off like a jack in the box on drugs." Sam mumbled trying to be quiet enough so Mark couldn't hear.
"What about drugs?!" exclaimed Mark.
"Well at least he didn't hear 'Mary'." Whispered Carl, then looked back and laughed when he saw Mary staring him out of it.
They chuckled as they made their last few steps down the corridor and into the exam hall. Today was the final day of exams, still, they didn't exactly go in there full of themselves.
A couple hours later they left; one by one they exited. Sam, out of his friends, was out first, as he was the first to finish. He took an immediate left when he walked out of the exam hall, leading him onto an outdoor platform that overlooked the two basketball courts and the gate, which was one of the exits. However, Sam did not leave. He sat atop the highest step at the edge of the platforms by the stairs; he waited.
Soon enough, Collin followed. His footsteps, and sudden stop, bade Sam's attention to turn upwards, where he saw Collin looking out over the rail; lighting a cigarette. The breeze swept onto the platform however, giving Collin the struggle of lighting up. His dark haired fringe was blown back as well. Collin grew more and more frustrated.
