The morning sun brought rays of warmth; the first to be felt in months. School had entered it's closing days of exams, and so the days got brighter, and packed an immeasurable amount of excitement for the summer holidays. In-fact, today was actually the final day of school, for Sam Jacobs and his friends.
Sam awoke to the beeping sound of his alarm. Just like always, he pressed the snooze, and flipped himself over onto his stomach; digging his head deep into the pillows while struggling with the thoughts of getting up. But in what seemed like seconds after closing his eyes, a half hour passed, and Sam panicked realizing he was likely going to be late for his last day. But he couldn't afford to be late for his final exams, so he rushed out the door with breakfast still in his hands. He shoved what was left down his throat, and off he hopped onto his bike, cycling off down the road. His mother in her night gown waving him good luck, as she watched him leave the estate of small homes.
On the other side of town; Mark, Sam's good friend, was in bed... With Mary. Or more appropriately put, he was in Mary's bed. The two of them were a couple, and after being together so long now, Mark occasionally liked to sneak off into the night and climb into Mary's room to, 'chill'. He, and her, lived closer to the school, so they weren't in as much of a rush as Sam was. They would manage to get into school just in time that day. However, that had a lot to do with Mary's father catching Mark in her room and then Chasing him out of the front door after a struggle. Mary's father hated Mark with a passion. Believing he was the worst choice for a boyfriend. Which, isn't that inaccurate. Mary was a nice girl, but Mark was a terrible influence on her. Still, he is exceedingly humorous.
Already on the way to school by the early morning, before even Sam had left, were Carl, Liam and Collin.
Liam was good friends with Mark. They got along well as they had an identical sense of humor. Liam was a lot nicer than Mark, however. Mark seemed to have the reputation of a bully. Liam was also a very confident person, like Mark. But Mark was seen as being, also, very manipulative. He liked to disguise his urge to manipulate with a few lies here and there. But he truly did believe that he was always doing the right thing. Liam was just confident in himself when it came to talking to people. And more often than not, he got what he wanted without lying to others.
Collin was another confident person, but he only had confidence when it came down to the ladies. A lot of the guys in the group, maybe with the exception of Mark I suppose, found it hard to talk to girls. But Collin was a handsome, caring and charismatic kind of guy. He could talk his way with any woman, but was fairly useless otherwise, and wasn't exactly the smartest of the group either.
And then, there was Carl. Carl was, mental. Not one for convincing you to do anything, but rather made you watch in absolute shock as he did what everyone else would, usually, be unwilling to do. He was, to say the least, 'bat shit crazy'. Perfect examples of this craziness are: When Carl lit a bin on fire and smashed a microwave to prove a 'point' which he assumed would end a long fought argument between two friends. And another example is when he gets angry. He gets quite aggressive and bursts into fits of rage at the slightest of insults.
Oh, and I almost forgot Alan. Alan was quiet. Really, quiet. By the time Sam had woken up in that panic of his, Alan was already on the bus to school. He liked to sit at the back, in the corner. He stared out the window as no one attempted to talk to him and in turn, he didn't attempt to talk to them. He liked being alone to his thoughts, but he is a long standing member of this group of friends.
As all these people made there way to school however, something was following them. A creeping darkness. Eye's were peering over them all for the past couple of days, and would stare even longer for the next few days to come...
